Consequence of Sound' s Summer Tour Guide will lead you to the darkest, dankest (not every venue has a ventilation system, folks) concerts where you can dance the night away after spending too many hours in the sun. From Dirty Projectors to Phish to the Diplo/Grimes/Skrillex extravaganza that is the Full Flex Express, we've listed the best and brightest artists that are touring new or as-of-yet unreleased albums , touring around festival appearances, or just touring because it's damn fun. -Harley Brown Associate Editor Feature artwork [...]

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka Bruce Springsteen - "Rocky Ground" Typical Springsteen images of urban decay and social struggle are given a new context behind the hip-hop flavor of Wrecking Ball 's second single. CHAPPO – "Hell No" (NSFW) I would have loved to see the Craigslist casting call CHAPPO put out for this video. Hot Chip – "Night and Day" Now I know what all those [...]

It took a few failed Circle Jerks reunions and four EPs, but hardcore supergoup OFF! finally released their first full length earlier this month. It's a 16 song, 15 minute (960 seconds to be exact, as our own Len Comaratta points out ) punch to the gut that'll have past and present punks everywhere moshing their asses off all summer long. For those of you who won't be able to catch them on tour , do the next best thing and check out the video below, which contains live footage from the band's recent record release [...]
Ageism and rockism are strange and inextricable bedfellows, limbs inconveniently entangled. Conventional wisdom dictates that, more or less, rock n' roll belongs to the young and furious. Time serves to either tame or shame. Rod Stewart makes blue-eyed soul for the cataract set, while Alice Cooper's continued desperate insistence on eyeliner and leather appears even [...]

In this edition of Audiography, we feature reviews of the latest albums by Canadian duo PS I Love You, Patrick Watson (both a man and a band), and hardcore supergroup OFF! We also have an interview with Screaming Females. A couple months back, we caught up with the New Brunswick punk trio as they were driving back from picking up vinyl copies of the band's latest release, Ugly . We talk about the making of the album, working with producer/engineer Steve Albini, the New Brunswick House Scene, and what goes into this band's unique and unconventional sound. [...]
OFF! wholeheartedly deserves the title of punk-rock super group. With their band t-shirts, power stances, and sweaty hair, this foursome bring out the 18 year old, under-aged drinker in all of us. Part reverie and part release, an OFF! show is a lesson in musical history, a spectacle of punk-rock appreciation, a walk through the mosh-pit of memory lane. OFF!'s record release party at the historic Whisky A Go Go could not have been better placed. Frontman Keith Morris' (initially of Black Flag and Circle Jerks fame) uncle-like story telling of shows he saw in the '70s, [...]

OFF is back, and they are as pissed off as ever. With their latest Self Titled album, OFF rips through 16 punk rock tracks in 15 minutes, leaving behind a whirlwind of old school hardcore destruction. For those who don't know, OFF is a punk band fronted by Keith Morris (of Black Flag/Circle Jerks fame) and features members from Red Kross, Burning Bridges, and Hot Snakes. Playing brash and unapologetic hardcore, OFF picks up where they left off on their First Four EPs . Not that Keith Morris cares, as he stated in an interview [...]

OFF! is a hardcore supergroup with members from Black Flag and the Circle Jerks (Keith Morris, vox), Redd Kross (Steven Shane McDonald, bass), Burning Brides (Dimitri Coats, guitar), and Rocket From the Crypt and Hot Snakes (Mario Rubalcaba, drums). After four EPs, the band finally released its first full-length, OFF! , on May 8 th . Recently, Consequence of Sound spoke with Morris about the band, its formation, and how they don't have the time for songs filled with pomp and circumstance. We also chatted about riding the party train that was [...]

Off! - Off! By Russell Warfield It might sound paradoxical, but sixteen songs in sixteen minutes is a lot to take in. Press play - fucking hell - done. People talk about appreciating albums which they can fit into the time it takes to commute to work. You can nail this one on a coffee break. Twice. Of course, if you've any prior familiarity with Keith Morris' work as part of Off! - or either of his previous seminal punkrock outfits Black Flag and Circle Jerks [...]

On Silversun Pickups 's latest and third album, the LA band shaves the fuzz of their guitars in favor of a more brooding, heavily electronic sound. You can pick up Neck of the Woods and a handful of other new albums out this week, including the second studio album from Kingston, Ontario duo PS I Love You , which according to our Music Director, Don Yates, is another impressive blend of energetic post-punk and anthemic garage-rock with loud, ringing guitars, muscular rhythms, yelping vocals and punchy song hooks." For a taste of their rocking sound, check [...]

On Off!'s second record they take a drastically different approach, incorporating new sounds while extending their track lengths and working off of new themes of love and discovery. It transcends the average punk rock record and creates an hours-long epic journey into the psyche of the songwriter, an artistic tour de force that leaves you with more questions about the universe than you had when the journey began. OK, not really. Odds are if you bought a ticket to this ride you knew upfront what you were getting: this self-titled effort is 16 punk rock songs [...]
