Tokyo Police Club Mais uma boa banda do Canadá. Tokyo Police Club é de Toronto e, além de ter um nome legal, o grupo tem um bom arsenal de boas canções indie rock, que o mundo descobriu com o lançamento do E.P. "A Lesson In Crime" .
At this point you've probably already seen this clip, which was all over the place. Rightly so, because it's unreasonably funny. So watch it again... David Bowie on Extras Man, I like that more than anything on Hours . Alright, now that your memory is refreshed, we reveal a bit of the hidden backstory. Apparently, Ricky Gervais's unrequited love for Bowie [...]
At the same time I was planning the post on "classic" TV , I read a film review by Stanley Kauffmann in TNR . It begins this way: R eviewing a recent film based on a television series, Michael Wood wrote, "What TV doesn't seem to need is a world." When directors want to make television series into movies, he wrote, "they mean, among other things, that they want to create a world, a location which is a kind of character." This [...]
Sorry for the lack of posts from me but i've been pretty busy as of late. I'm currently adjusting to a new schedule with classes starting and my work place. Anywho, the regular features here will still continue and i'll probably get back to regular posting this week but if not then at least you know what's going on. Enjoy these random tracks! Shuffling these songs is pretty fun, as the list

Two out of every five cubicle workers in the United States are likely to be cased clinically insane sometime after a company termination. I really just made that up, but I needed a way to work into the Office - no pun intended, though knowing me, I probably did intend it. In the end, I'm sure my fake statistic isn't too far off because that environment is precisely what Scott Masson was trying to escape from when he concocted the likes of this pop rock quintet hailing from Chicago. Office follows the successful band formula of being fun, [...]

www.myspace.com/officemusic Interesting story how I first stumbled upon the band Office . I usually like to check out profiles of people who add us on Myspace , so a few weeks ago I was looking at someone's profile (person will remain nameless) and came across this song that I found extremely catchy. After a while I found myself continuously refreshing the page to listen to the song over and over again. It was starting to become ridiculous so i messaged the [...]

Random Mix Thursday! That sounds pretty terrible I think, as I will never do anything like that again. Not so much a mix though, but rather a lot of songs that i've been listening to the past few weeks. Every so often I'll hear a song somewhere and i'll end up having it play continuously throughout the day. It's kinda terrible as I'd end up listening to one song upwards of 15-20 times, in hopes i'll get sick of it and move on to something else. A lot of the bands [...]

Lollapalooza 2006 "No one leave the lights on in a house where nobody lives anymore." I'm heading out for the big weekend in just a few hours here. I have no intention of bringing me computer with me, so I'll try to do a weekend recap when I get back late on Monday...maybe. I am preparing a couple of normal posts in advance, so [...]
T here has been one band out of Chicago in recent memory that makes me a bit sad that I left Chicago some years ago. That band is Office . They have had the unique effect of appearing equally genuine and contrived at the very same time to the skeptic in me. Songs so earnest are rarely found in the "pop" vein. Call me what you will, but how could it be that these folks making pop music could really love music? I don't know, to be honest. But they are, and you [...]

Last night Intern David and I went to Mercury Lounge to see Office , a Chicago band who have been getting buzzed about for a while now. I first heard about them from the lads in The Changes , who booked them as one of the openers for their NYE and NYEE shows at Schubas. While I enjoyed their quirky upbeat pop songs when I listened to the album the first time, I wasn't totally blown away by the show, although the girl who plays the cowbell and other various percussion was pretty awesome to say [...]
MICHAEL Well, I'll be in my office. PAM Don't you think you should say something? MICHAEL They're cool. PAM Michael, I think that as the boss, you should... MICHAEL Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine. Hi, children. I'm Michael Scott. And I am in charge of this place. How do I make you understand... I am... like Superman. And the people who work here are like citizens of Gotham City. JIM & DWIGHT That's [...]
