This is going to be a quick post this week because I'm going to be leaving to go see Ben Folds tonight soon but here's your AIAWW: WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER This song was found when I started listening to the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album and found "Dull Life." As far as mashups go this is pretty damn good Lobsterdust - Dull Sex & Magic (Ciara & Justin Timberlake Vs. Yeah Yeah Yeahs Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Dull Life This was a close second just because Peter [...]
The Buffetlibre duo have come up with an impressively unique concept for their PEACE compilation album that is due for release on 1st March - creating a musical atlas of the world with songs from each and every corner (or at least from more than 50 countries). These aren't just unknown artists either, they've got Voxtrot from the USA, Official Secrets Act from the UK, The Hidden Cameras form Canada, The Toxic Avenger form France plus many other less recognisable but no less impressive acts from Lebanon to [...]

So who in the hell are this Magic & Fur band playing the next Oh! Inverted World show!? Well, dear friends, our cleverly designed Q&A will quench your massive thirst for answers to the questions such as, how they got their name, do they like mangos or melons? and do they actually make a good cup of tea? Magic & Fur - not fans of mangos OR melons?! As an intro though we'd like to mention that they are actually incredible and we're amazingly excited to [...]

Filthy Dukes - This Rhythm (Fred Falke Remix) ( Download ) [...]

Currently in the midst of a European tour, Official Secrets Act has had to cancel a recent appearance at the Dot-To-Dot UK festival due to injury of their drummer Alex McKenzie. Originally hurt during a cycling accident earlier this year in which he was struck by two cars, a recent scan revealed the drummer to be suffering from a broken vertebrae. Despite this, the group will be moving forward with their remaining tour dates having recruited Alex White of Brakes to take the helm behind the drums. Here are the remaining dates: 05/27: Hamburg, Germany [...]
The probably with listening to indie-rock-punk-garage-pop for the last 30 years as I have is that when you hear cool new music, your ears & brain will tell you that you've heard it before. Which is OK! Bring cool old sounds to new audiences. Music players have been doing that for years. Heck, Guitar Hero has brought 70s classic rock like Nugent, Foghat, Aerosmith and others to a whole new slew of 13 yr old boys (God help us all...). The key thing I try to look for is finding the right twist on a previously made sound to make [...]
Pop Muzik [...]

ALBUM REVIEW : Official Secrets Act - Understanding Electricity Words: Gareth O'Malley Can I get this out of the way first? I can ? Good. 'The Girl From The BBC' - that's the most recent single from Official Secrets Act, in case you're wondering - is awful. In fact, the best thing about this song, with [...]

Official Secrets Act are a London based 4 piece rock band who have an album Understanding Electricity that they've just released on One Little Indian . This album is a nicely produced affair and shows off the band's talent for bubbling up pop rock that hearkens back to the days of Bowie while daydreaming of contemporary bands like British Sea Power, Franz Ferdinand, or Arcade Fire. There's electronics and rock and catchy lines and decent beats all swirling around this album but the voice of lead singer/guitarist Tom Charge Burke is the deal breaker. It has [...]
I must say I really enjoyed Lawrence's guest blog last week. It seems him and the rest of Official Secrets Act had a great time. In order to thank all the fans who came out to the shows, he's given me a B-Side of an exclusive single they put out last year, a song which they rediscovered while in Galway. So, with Gisèle being gone, I'm gonna take care of this Monday for once. Therefore the recommendation of today is my choice. Official Secrets Act caught my eye last week somewhere, they'd been appearing on several blogs I read. They are four boys with a passion for synthpop, or at least that's what their music sounds like. Very eighties too. Their singer has a very distinctive, special voice that gives their sound something extra. Their music is pretty good. I won't say it's the best or most [...]
The sun is shining down hard and full on the hills of North Wales as OSA head home from their first Irish tour. Tired, happy and not as eager to get him as they thought they'd be after a month on the road. Dublin was pretty perfect yesterday. The sun was shining as we rolled into Grafton Street, the Liffey was all shimmery and thick and we could have almost hear Joyce's words leaping off the street. THe only problem being that they were all in crazy grammer experiments and only Alex could decipher them cause he's clever [...]
