It's Saturday, December 15th. In ten days Christmas will have arrived and the food comas will have set in. In six days the world is supposed to end. In a couple of hours I will be done with work for the year and can relax and let loose a little before we obliterate into nothing (maybe...who knows?). So as I sit in a silent library on the edge of completion with my larger than necessary headphones on I'm looking around at the sea of twentysomething faces buried in their notes and laptops and all I'm doing is twerkin' up a [...]
Quite a bit of dub house and electro step lately, eh? And all those cross-over random noises, ugh, they can be so sucky. Well, sometimes producers get it right. Alvin Risk got it right. The cheese that is Oh My!'s ' Dirty Dancer ' got a the electro shock treatment that fixed it into an aggressive gem. Not new-new by any means (released last fall,) this is one of those tracks that will have your friends silently Shazaming when they hear it. Goodbye, weekend.
Let's get one thing straight: Nicki Minaj is pop, not hip-hop. This has nothing to do with her being a woman and everything to do with the fact that when you get right down to it, she makes songs that are structurally more like pop songs. As an artist, she's preoccupied with the trappings of pop: costumes, art direction, stunt collaborations set up to ship more units, and so on. Which is why when The New York Times crowned Nicki Minaj the "singular voice" in hip-hop , a 21st-century trailblazer, my stomach began churning. [...]

A lot of things have happened to Oh My! 's sound since I wrote about them two years ago. Back then, they had entered a studio, recorded and mixed five songs in less than 20 hours, while their current productions hardly can be created that fast. They have, since a while back, stepped out of the garage and put themselves on a bigger stage. The base is still there, though: a feelgood indie with nice melodies and raw guitars. So far they have released a few singles, that have gained quite some traction in for example national [...]
I was able to catch up with DC based Electronic producer and singer, Alvin Risk, as he opened for Nero at the Music Box in Hollywood. Alvin Risk is best know for his amazing remixes of Kaskade, Steve Aoki and Example tunes that are nothing but top shelf and his Moombahton floor scorcher Pendejas he [...]
I was able to catch up with DC based Electronic producer and singer, Alvin Risk , as he opened for Nero at the Music Box in Hollywood. Alvin Risk is best know for his amazing remixes of Kaskade , Steve Aoki and Example tunes that are nothing but top shelf and his Moombahton floor scorcher Pendejas he made with DC producer Tittsworth . Alvin and I couldn't find a word that describes him except maybe "electromoombahstep" (new sub-genre). [...]

Oh My From: London, United Kingdom I know that I'm going to regret this but I just can't resist this disposable little number from Saturdays worshipping London duo Oh My! It's not the usual fare you'll find on the Devil's blog but it's lively, upbeat, throw-away pop that'll blow away your post festive blues and get you prancing round your bedroom in your pop socks and whatever else it is you young dudes wear [...]
the Melb town heat has given me the mighty oh horn that yesterday i hooked up a digital, lets get physical, date. once i rocked up to his homo i realised the face didn't do the jpegs justice and a few mins into small talk i was thinking of an excuse to get me outta there. the door bell rang and a third party rocked up, pretending i was insulted, i found this to be me perfect getaway excuse. and nodnoL popping she-duo the OH MY ! have unleashed a video for their BAD [...]

And now for something I wouldn't wish upon my most mortal enemy in 2012: A bad date! We've all been there: You're having a classy first date at Applebees with this sort-of-cute guy you met on OKCupid, and then he tells you that he has a boyfriend already, three children, and that you need to foot the bill for the 2-for-$20 dinner because he's saving his money as bail for his grandmother because "well, grandpa had it coming anyway." Judging by the girls' surging new uptempo, it seems the frisky electro-pop femmes of Oh My! [...]

chameleons, giant flyswatters and a few dirty dancers this catchy Oh My! tune came out in October yupp, and we forgot to post it...
Download: Oh My! - Dirty Dancer (Unicorn Kid Remix)

Here is a classy LP any house head, will need to get their hands on. Unlike a lot of artist albums that disappoint upon the first listen, D'Marc Cantu has stuck to his jacking instincts and produced an absolute dancefloor necessity. After successful releases this year with his 2AMFM Saturn V & X2 aliases, it's a wonder D'Marc found time to piece together such a solid debut. It seems as though he has found a home with fine taste merchants, Creme Organization. If you're the shallow browser, be sure to take note of the crude [...]

Bom [...]

In part one of our REAL Sound Of 2012 we looked at already established and establishing artists, but in part two, we’re all about the newbies. These acts are the ones we’re supporting in 2012 and hoping they’ll go all the way to the top. BUBBLING UNDER OH MY! Alex and Jade have been on the pop radar for the better part of the year, but they are yet to make their big splash which is why we’ve categorised them [...]
The DØ - Slippery Slope (Live at Studio Pigalle) This is still one of my favorite songs of the past twelve months and this epic 8-minute version makes it even more beautiful and addictive. LØVE! Little Mix - Don't Let Go I would LOVE to see those girls win the X Factor this year (except if Misha does), not only because [...]
