The second mix in the OHM Dedication Series showcasing legendary and behind-the-scenes influential artists is another must listen. This mix - JD Twitch presents Adrian Sherwood - showcases downtempo dub and industrial electronic music produced by British artist Adrian Sherwood, including his work with Lee "Scratch" Perry, Prince Far-I and Tackhead, among others. (Paraphrased from One-Handed Music's description via SoundCloud) There are two parts to this 3-hour mix - the first is more electronic and industrial oriented, the second is more dub oriented: Here's more about the mix, [...]

I recently received a mix from the One Handed Music ( OHM ) label and the Beautiful Swimmers out of Washington, D.C. that educated me about a legendary jazz artist who influenced the downtempo music that I love today. This mix - the first in the forthcoming OHM Dedication Series - was curated by Beautiful Swimmers (musician based in D.C.) to showcase the influence of Don Cherry - an African-American jazz musician who helped pioneer and showcase avant-garde jazz around the world from the 1950-70s, playing with legends such as John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins. Listen to the [...]
Jeff Loomis has been teasing a new solo album since July of last year, with increasingly juicy bits of information slipping out all the time - like the fact that it will feature guest appearances from multiple former Megadeth guitarists (namely, Marty Friedman and Chris Poland), PLUS Tony MacAlpine, PLUS, oh yeah, some dude named [...]
Erotica Secret II released by Luxury House, includes 22 tracks and 2 Continuous DJ Mixes by Jerome Noak and Dk Ii. Genres: House, Tech House, Deep House, Groove.
I've been a big fan of Larry Ohm's music for quite some time. He's been flying solo over the years, crafting and perfecting his sound. Up until now, you had to be lucky enough to catch him live to hear his unique blend of jangly, motown-infused jukebox rock. Here's his Newdust debut, with his newly [...]
OOO what a glorious Monday it has been so far! One of the most evil men in world history has been straight capped in the dome with a $1,188,263,000,000 bullet. BUT, it's still a Monday, and I still had to wake up at the ass crack of dawn for a class that was cancelled. I've [...]
Whattup y'all. Sorry, I'm late on this playlist. The weekend was wild and I needed an extra day to rest/ski some powder. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that's the point of the Mellow Monday playlist. Get over it, what's good about this one being on Tuesday, April 19th, though, is that it is a nice [...]

Across to Belgium! 1000 ohm or 1000 Ω was pretty much the biggest dance success that Belgian 80's New Wave scene saw. I don't usually like New Wave, and really know nothing about the 'Belgian 80's New Wave Scene' but the beat is contagious and you find yourself singing the chorus while you make your morning instant. All that really matters right? MP3: 1000 OHM - A.G.N.E.S

OHMphrey , the largely improvised debut release from the side project made up of three of the members of Umphrey's McGee (guitarist Jake Cinninger, keyboardist Joel Cummins, and drummer Kris Myers) and former Megadeath guitarist and current leader of OHM Chris Poland , dropped today. OHMphrey also includes OHM's Robertino Pagliari on bass who along with Poland formed the fusion/progressive outfit in 1997. The self titled album released by Magna Carta mixes jazz fusion, rock, prog and metal and a samples of the eight [...]

So I said I promised something nice here for hardly posting at all last week, and here it is. Forgive me as I just haven't felt like posting at all but I think that'll change starting tomorrow. I wasn't planning on doing anymore lists, but I think compiling a song list just felt right. I'm sure i'm missing a lot as I just wrote down whatever came up in my head and kept the first 30 songs that sprung to mind. I didn't rank them either, cos I really wasn't interested in doing that at all. I wanted to include [...]

01 - UCLA's Awaken Accapella - "Hide And Seek" (Imogen Heap Cover) . Two days ago, this magically appeared in my inbox courtesy of a friend . I don't have a clue about it except to say that it is amazing and gives me pleasant memories of The OC Season 2. | Website | Purchase | 02 - Brilliant Fanzine - "One In 10,000" . Lame band name, amazing intro. Who starts songs with " And "? Genius. [...]
Pavement - "Pueblo". (Part 2 of a continuing series in which I finally begin to get Pavement. And try to tell you what it is I'm getting.) There's so much inertia to this song - long spools of electric guitar, Malkmus lazy-singin'. Minutes of real-life languor, everyday languor, get-up-and-go-to-work languor, falling asleep on the bus as the dawn breaks through the window gloss. And so what's amazing is how easily Pavement shakes off this weight when it chooses to: the cut and crest of the choruses' guitars, the gold and silver streaks. Every time it happens - at 1:12 and [...]
Okay, I'm usually of the opinion that having an acronym as a band name is a generally bad idea, but I'll make some exceptions here. Although, I do think we should all at least remember the whole Boyz II Men, ABC, BBD ("the east coast family") fiasco of '91. Let's just say that it wasn't a coincidence the two acronym laden members of the family faded into obscurity while roman numeral sporting dorks became annoyingly famous. Just saying. * * * * * OHM - Spoon [...]
Ecouter "Spoon Me" d'OHM. (via Popsheep.)
