It was great to see ohnomoon live again last night at our B.E.A.F. Psych Rock stage at Public Assembly. Hit hard by the sudden death of their bassist Raymond Blanco towards the end of the year, OhNoMoon's 2011 was bittersweet at best. Until then, this Astoria-based psych rock band had released the single "Sleeping Limbs" and an outstanding cover of Bowie's "Ashes to Ashes" (streaming below) laying a fast path around town, which culminated in a sold out Deli show at CMJ. Hopefully they'll give us some new recordings soon. Their somnambulant dream-rock, whose pace is dictated by [...]

New York's ohnomoon have posted a gorgeous cover of David Bowie's classic "Ashes To Ashes". This is the last song the band recorded with bassist Raymond Blanco before his untimely passing two weeks ago. I was fortunate to meet Ray earlier this year through my friends in the band and he was someone you instantly felt a friendship with. He was clever, kind and a talented musician. Look out for the band at The Deli's CMJ Showcase on 10/18 at The Delancey and 11/19 at The Delancey again [...]
Ohnomoon may not seem like they're in a rush, but trust me... they're moving plenty fast. While their music's got the whole slow-motion moodiness thing down pat, this Astoria-based band's been laying a fast path around town. They played their first show just this past January, and have been playing out almost every weekend since. They recorded a bunch of material last March at Astoria Soundworks, and the one song they released from this record has hit its download limit on the band's Soundcloud after being available for less than a month. The slowly ambling 'Sleeping [...]
New York's Ohnomoon evoke something lush, dark and rich, a haunting series of whispers and lilting guitars. Somewhere between the atmospherics of Warpaint and the sparse guitar work of minimalist outfits like the xx, "Sleeping Limbs" perhaps follows even more of a narrative arc, introducing the chilling central lyric, "Protect me from what I want," before eventually collapsing into a sea of
As hard it as it can usually be to get back into a routine, I'm happy to be posting here again. I recently returned from my lengthy work trip and I certainly missed this blogging stuff. Lots of things have changed since I was gone. The backend of WordPress (our publishing platform for Knox Road) looks different with a sleek new redesign, Gmail was upgraded, Google Plus is suddenly legit, a great diner near me closed (that one actually happened before I left but I'm still in denial). You know what hasn't changed? The plethora of [...]

Indie shoegazenoiserockers ohnommoon are definitely a band to watch out for in New York City. The band is currently recording their first 7 inch, so no music as of yet, but you can catch then live next at The Rock Shop in Brooklyn on 4/21. Check out some photos from their set at Piano's below.

ohnomoon played their debut show at Glasslands in Brooklyn to a packed crowd despite the blustery weather. The band played an impressive set for their first show. They played around 6 or 7 songs of their noisy-shoegaze pop, with a highlight of the night being an awesome cover of Pavement's "In The Mouth A Desert" from Slanted and Enchanted , which took on a different sound when primarily sung by a female vocalist over fuzzed out guitars. ohnomoon has a few demos up on their muxtape page for you to enjoy.
