Tweet Torn between a warped and jangling demeanour early doors 'Old Boys' soon hits its groove, and in the process becomes a splendid porthole into the sort of music that Sweden's Labrador Records has been producing for years. Bishop Morocco are very much a Canadian proposition though, despite being decamped in Europe for many moons. The twin creative forces of Jake Fairley and Jim Sayce had previous creative incarnations together before meeting quite by chance in Northern Holland after some time apart. [...]

Bishop Morocco's 2010 got them noticed by Arts & Crafts. They are releasing a new EP March 13th Old Boys . I wasn't really in to the old record but since being signed, their sound has changed a bit. The music sounds much more full and with more focus on where they want to be. Check out the textured title track. Bishop Morocco- Old Boys

Bishop Morocco - Old Boys [Right click [...]

Toronto's Bishop Morocco was one the acts who I manage to catch at the Arts & Crafts Showcase during Pop Montreal . I found out that the band used to be on Hand Drawn Dracula and now jumped ship to Arts & Crafts . So far the band is going to drop their EP "Old Boys" on March 13, 2012. Listening to the whole EP of six tracks. It has that indie retro new wave pop-rock sound of the 1980s. Reminisced [...]
Nearly everything about this Bishop Morocco track, "Old Boys," feels familiar and done before. However, there's just a certain charm to it that keeps it playing softly in the back of my head, making me excited for the band's forthcoming EP on Arts & Crafts. Title: Old Boys . Date: March 13th. I suppose the production is pretty great, and features some nice, light swirls of guitars and synths. The lazy vocals create a pretty sedate attitude, which ends up being more alluring than boring. Definitely something I'd recommend if you were into that Craft Spells [...]
Something about all of these sunshiny days has left me craving twee-ish pop songs. It's a phase that takes hold and is hard to shake. I follow SEA Indie a south east asia label and they put out some interesting stuff. One song they posted was the following, and although it gets repetitive it's nice to have floating around in the background.

Tweet vaso link The opening to Bishop Morocco's "Old Boys" sounds like it's been left outside to warp in the sun and then played back; then things kick in and it makes perfect sense, not at all misshaped. And the track is a brief, soft-spoken slice of indie pop. It's got the slight, slow slap of drums and a buoyant guitar line supporting it. It's space-y and floating and a great introduction to a band I was previously unaware of. [...]

Got sent this super pretty 2:39 min indie track "Old Boys" by Toronto band Bishop Morocco from their forthcoming EP of the same name scheduled for release March 13th . Absolutely lovely tune that I can hear over and over again. Can't wait to hear the rest of that EP. The good news for us is they are offering "Old Boys" as a free download via their site in exchange for your email. Not a bad [...]
Bishop Morocco is one-half Jake Fairley, who spent the better half of a decade running through the Berlin electronic circuit under the name Fairmont , and one-half James Sayce, who some of you might remember as part of Toronto acts Tangiers and The Deadly Snakes from way-back-when. As the story goes, the two old friends met up in the town of Groningen, Netherlands after so many years, building up a homemade studio to record their 2008 self-titled debut and earning themselves a bit of buzz back home in Canada. Fast forward to now, and Bishop Morocco has found a new [...]
Dreamy. Catchy. "Old Boys" is those super high thread count sheets in that expensive hotel you stayed at on vacation that you'd love to get for yourself, but could never afford. Bishop Morocco are here to make that dream come true for you. The instrumentation is silk. Electronics mingle with vocals in a digital harmony that makes it impossible to tell what came first, and what is more important to the track; I'm not sure one could exist without the other. It's that tight. It's a miracle it found it's way into my inbox. This is [...]
Look, if you had to make an English version of Park Chan-Wook's masterpiece, Oldboy , then getting Spike Lee to direct (not a perfect choice but a good one), Mark Protosevic to adapt the screenplay and Josh Brolin to star as the man held in prison for 15 years is a good foundation. The Korean movie came out in 2003, so enough time has passed where hopefully Lee and company can make something that is at the very least ... interesting. As long as they don't waste my time and wuss out. And if [...]
Tragically this is something I can neither help you experience through my blog or cover with a live review. It is, however, something so incredibly cool that I'd be a fool not to mention it. Guillemots will be performing a live score for the film Oldboy tomorrow, Thursday August 25, at the Leeds Festival at [...]
It's not everyday that there is something on the Spike Lee development front that is worth sharing, however, yesterday happened to be that day. 1. He's reprising his role as Mookie from Do the Right Thing in a movie called Red Hook Summer . Apparently, it started shooting yesterday, though nobody knows if it's a sequel or what. But obviously, the movie exists in the same film universe. 2. He's been hired to direct the American remake of Park Chan-wook's Oldboy . If there has to [...]

One of Handsome's traditions is our creation of The 6 every season. We choose one of our favourite designs from the collection and we do an extra small run of 6 shirts with purple ink. With the growing support that we've been receiving season after season, we've decided to keep this concept the same offering up this limited run at Old Boys to whoever gets their hands on them first. This season we've chosen Solo Dolo, a design inspired by Kid Cudi for The 6 . The 6 is now available for [...]

Both Steppenwolf the band and Steppenwolf the book provided the thematic inspiration for this design. The book follows Harry Haller, a man searching for balance in a life full of extremes. His character embodies these extremes as he deals with questions of life and death, the spiritual and material, and what it means to be human. The story blurs the lines between reality and hallucinations as Haller seeks for stability in the battle between his uniquely human thoughts and his undeniable animal instincts. The band Steppenwolf also embodied these themes, balancing approachable radio hits with guttural rock [...]

The Oldboy , London born Manchester based DJ is playing Bugged Out atSankeys this Friday (Manchester) with Tiga And Brodinski. This new mix is fucking brilliant, some truly epic techno sound. What's better is that it was done 110% live with serato, two turntables and his trusty DJM 600 mixer. mp3: The OldBoy - A Long Time Coming Mix. Tracklist later ... 1.
