We are big fans of Larry, as you can probably tell by a simple search back through our larder of tasty meaty beat treats. The flickering, shimmering vibes of this dreamy house track helped secure it on a high pedestal up near the heavens, but fuck me heaven ain't cheap, some shmuck is trying to sell it on Discogs for 800 notes, might go knock him up a new pair of balls, wimp. As you can tell from our previous posts, we are big fans of Paul Johnson, even though it does mean trawling through the masses of tracks he has made to find the proper meat. Big big use of the sampler, and very much a trade mark case of speeding up disco loop and adding some pumping kicks... but the uptempo, heavy funk that comes out of this makes this all ok. This track is proper 90s heat, dropped at the right time, it can cause devastation, throw it in, throw it out ;) [...]
It's the first Friday in February and I think we all know what that means: Valentine's Day is coming (or looming, depending on your stance). In the recent years, capitalism has really done a number on the holiday, leaving significant others with sweaty palms over gifts and dinner dates. This February, Indie Shuffle would like to tip our hats to the purest essence of the holiday: love, sweet love. Today, enjoy some old school jams just waiting to electrify your holiday. From D'Angelo to Clarence Carter, many different moods and tastes are represented - different strokes for different [...]
I'll freely admit to not knowing much about Etta James, outside of the fact that she seemed to be a pretty amazing woman. That said, I certainly had a song come to mind when I heard about her passing a couple weeks ago - it just so happens that the song which started playing in my head was Def Jef's Droppin' Rhymes On Drums. Droppin' Rhymes on Drums has always been a favorite of mine , but I have no idea how the Jef/Etta collabo came to pass. I've always assumed there was [...]

Future Hits 112: Amulet
Amulet
From: London, UK Lazy equation: (Cathedral + Saint Vitus) x lots and lots of Black Sabbath . URL: Facebook // Big Cartel Thrash Hits Verdict:
Is "retro" a dirty word? Are we doing the history of metal a disservice by referring to bands as "traditional" metal? Should we just shut the hell up, and stop trying to pigeonhole every damn band in the world? Isn't it about time we featured a band in Future Hits that we heard about through [...]
