The art of the build-up is something quite a few bands seem to have forgotten. For this reason alone, Olympians are worth your time. 'Foreign Language' spends its first minute or so teasing the listener with fragments of a hook before coming to life with gentle drumming and the kind of harmonies that will make anyone's spirit soar, changing tack again just as quickly, ushering in a new section whose waltzing time signature adds extra bounce to the infectious melody. Last night I was privileged to join the movers and shakers on the east Anglian music scene, judging the battle of the bands for a mainstage slot at the UK's brightest new festival. BIYL have been working closely in collaboration with the organisers over the last couple of months, as this competition has unfolded.
