So if you didn't know I live in Minneapolis, and I like to support local music (only the good stuff though, no Tapes and Tapes here!). So One for the Team is a new Pop rock band that have started making a name for themselves in "the scene". They have a very interesting sound. It is not quite pop, but it is not quite post punk, it is interesting. The single Best Supporting Actor is a prime example of this uniqueness. It has a great beat, and a melody, but it does weird things as it progresses. The song is [...]
Rogue Wave, who is set to do some shows with Feist this September, is releasing their new record September 18th. Asleep at Heavens Gate , their debut for Brushfire Records, was produced by Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater Kinney, Elvis Costello). There are also some special guests on the record. Matthew Caws from Nada Surf sings on a couple of songs, John Vanderslice contributes in spots, Snowblink's Daniela Gesundheit sings on a few tracks, Dominic East of Our Lady of the Highway also lends some vocals and Bill Cameron of the Winechuggers plays keyboards on "Ghost." You can [...]
Back in April we were introduced to the Minneapolis-based indie group One For The Team. Our first taste of their music was a demo of the song "Best Supporting Actor," of which the final version will appear on the band's upcoming sophomore album, due out in November. The six-piece group will be hitting the road later this week, but unfortunately not coming nearly close enough to the Austin area. Hopefully some day we'll get to see these kids live. We also have the studio version of "Best Supporting Actor," which you can download below. Damn that is a catchy track! [...]

Summer laziness is here, and the blogposts from me get shorter and shorter... Sorry! Here's a song from an indie/power-pop band called One for the Team . They're from Minneapolis and have an album called "Good Boys don't make noise" out on Afternoon Records . Listen: One for the Team - Take Cover Share This
One indie record label that has been a topic of conversation around the Tripwire office more and more lately is Minneapolis' Afternoon Records. We received a link from the label just a little while ago from one of their bands, One For The Team. Although the band's MySpace page lists five members, their press shots have six. Regardless of how many people are in the band, the demo of "Best Supporting Actor" is mighty awesome. The track is a demo version taken from their new album, which they are currently looking to release in October. [...]

One For The Team is an upbeat, six-piece collaborative from Minneapolis. Using two guitars, a bass, drums and a synthesizer, the band creates a full sound through the mid-fi recordings, which is further layered by the male/female tag team vocals. If you like Voxtrot , definitely give these guys a listen. Add this Band on Myspace [...]

Yesterday I posted about The God Damm Doo Wop Band, who signed with Afternoon Records in Minneapolis and today I was once again perusing my friend request list and came across One for the Team who are also signed to the Afternoon label and are actually also pretty darn good Indie-Powerpop outfit, I shall use the power of metaphor (and band comparison) to describe them, imagine Weezer (Blue album era) and The Subways stealing the clothes from Death Cab For Cutie's rider and then proceeding to rock out. Its a terrible description which doesn't tell you very much [...]
