As we previously reported, Minneapolis indie pop group One For The Team are gearing up for the March 31 release of a new EP, Build A Garden . We've already shared the cover artwork and the tracklist for the 8-song disc, but now you get your first-listen to thirty seconds (we know) of new material from the band. We've honestly heard much of the new EP and we're really psyched about the direction the trio is going in and how they'll fare when the disc is released. (mp3) One For The Team [...]

Highlights from the past week including Lykke Li & Tapes 'n Tapes and next week's new releases

Two new Minneapolis acts on Daytrotter. I know Vampire Hands & Caroline Smith are yet to come.. Hopefully they will continue this trend!
The sugary indie-pop band recorded exclusive tracks for the tastemaking indie site.

One for the Team recently did a Daytrotter session , and it went live yesterday. As you might have noticed, it made me sniffle. Not because the songs are too sad or bad. It's because the words by Sean Moeller (we Seans share a collective consciousness, after all) mentioned The Anniversary , Ultimate Fakebook , The Promise Ring and the Get Up Kids , among others. So then I got all down in the dumps, since all of those bands - who were so formative for me - [...]
One of our favorite acts of the last year, Minneapolis indie pop band One For The Team , played a four-song set for the Internet mainstay (dudes, make sure you go to this site on the regular). The write-up they do of the band is really right on target, and because we don't feel the need for reiteration on this band's behalf, just go to the site and listen in . Tracklist: 01 Apples 02 Strange Overtones (David Byrne and Brian Eno cover) 03 You Know Culture [...]

When he not running Afternoon Records , blogging at MFR , or championing young artist(Haley Bonar, The Battle Royale),Minneapolis' Ian Anderson also finds time for his first love, making gorgeous indie-pop in One For The Team . It's fuzzy boy/girl harmonies and Poster Children meets Velocity Girl style pop have been gaining attention outside the Twin Cities. Their track "A Better Job" was played on MTV's "The Real World: Brooklyn" and they were invited by Spin.com into their our offices to strum a few tracks. Most recently, they made an appearance on the [...]
The bill at the Bluebird tonight will make you forget that it's a bitterly cold January night. Locals Target Market and Exercise bring the dance, as do Now, Now Every Children and One for the Team, wh... Continue reading "Tonight! You know how you go to a bar with all of your friends who use their parents money and pretend to look poor — except you're actually poor — and the bar looks like a dive, except everyone is paying $5-$7 for a beer? Yeah, you know, the faux dive bar. An archetypal hipster spot. Well, Al's is a real dive bar. Nothing faux about it. And I got to see One for the Team perform admirably there, despite missing a member due to sickness.
from brooklyn vegan One For The Team are in town from Minneapolis to play Cake Shop on (coincedentally?) the same night one of their songs plays on MTV's The Real World Brooklyn (I didn't even fully realize the show was on yet). from culture bully Approach Influenza as a series which serves to help give insight as to where music is born; these are the thoughts, influences and the inspirations directly from the mind of the artists. I've been high on One for the Team for a while now, and the band's last record has been playing on and off through my headphones for months. I had to miss the Militia Groupers when they came through the Commonwealth in November, but that's not happening tomorrow night. You Ain't No Picasso is putting on this show, and Matt has paired OFTT up with The Nasys at Al's Bar. A good call. One [...]
