One of my colleagues is on holiday, so I've been real busy the past couple of days. Do I have to say that work is overrated? It does help paying the bills I know, but still it's overrated! Happy birthday to long-time reader and contributor J.A. , who turns thirty-something (I guess) today! Busy or not I always try to squeeze in some time to listen to some music and this situation was no exception. So here's some of the stuff that's been keeping me company while I was toiling away. [...]
Like it or not. A post like this was inevitable... Been giving the new Arcade Fire album a few spins today. Because everyone else seem to enjoy it (and because I'm such a dickhead), I really want not to like it. If nothing else, then just to be able to say that I'm not buying into the hype. Got to admit that this mission has failed completely, as my first impression is beyond positive. + Wake Up (not from the album, but you knew [...]
This one will probably end up being even shorter than yesterday's post , as the heat in my office is unbearable and my brain simply refusing to cooperate. Told you that Peter would feature Les Incendiaries ! Yes Peter ! You might be predictable , but your taste in music is absolutely impeccable! One Weekly Gun is back writing songs! Will this be a "one week wonder" or will we once again be treated to a new [...]
Finally it's December; the month of Christmas. And finally the day has arrived where it's completely ok to start posting Christmas songs and (more importantly) share my wishlist for Christmas. And kicking off with the later, I do think my wishes are once again very modest and reasonable, as the list has been trimmed down to include just one thing; Keira Knightley ! Who, when I think of it, has been the only "thing" on my yearly wishlist for the past many years ! But despite my humble wish, I have a nagging feeling [...]

HANK ALTOGETHER: Heath Ledger may be dead, but his directorial work lives on. This is a pretty damn nice music video and it gives me the chance to post the "Heath Ledger Song" by One Weekly Gun. One Weekly Gun - Heath Ledger

I quite enjoyed the live blogging Wednesday evening , and since the scenario is pretty much the same (wife's out and the kids are asleep), I thought why not do it again? I still have plenty of mails to read, stuff to comment and a few songs to post, so for the next couple of hours this post will slowly expand. A photo will be added in a few minutes. Finally; here's the usual disclaimer. There will be more focus on writing and posting than on spelling and grammar! As promised a photo. Please [...]

Re-post - Promo track added ! The Blueflowers debut album Watercolor Ghost Town was released this Saturday ( buy ), and even though I received my copy a while back, I hadn't really listened to it. But today I pulled my act together and showed more initiative than almost ever before, when I ripped the album onto my computer at work, so I can give more thorough listens. Don't expect this sudden energy level to sustain, but nice for at change to actually getting something done and feeling that things are progressing. [...]

Every blogger probably knows what it feels like finding a song that you cannot wait for the rest of the world to hear? If so, you should completely understand the feeling I've had for the past 24 hours since I stumbled upon Broken Satellit e by Dennis Mejdal , as I cannot recall the last time I heard a song so truly gorgeous and loveable as this one. No chance that the world will be reading this, but those of you who actually do, make sure you don't miss out on [...]

Tommy squeezes off a round of his own, and Peter's down wid it. Gun. One Weekly Gun. I pointed you towards the excellent "Dear John" at Hits in the Car back in June, but I didn't pay close enough attention to the arsenal at which Morten was arming himself. Week after week (i.e., weekly, duh) a young, sharp, shooter/musician, the Deadeye-Dickish Dane, Peter Fritzen, rifles through his fertile

Wonder if I'll ever learn. Spending Saturday night drinking and dancing, and not going to bed until 3 AM takes it toll on an old man like me. Problem is that once I have completely recovered; only the fond memories and the funny picture (I do look goofy I know) will remain. Long forgotten are the hangovers and the way I felt the following Monday morning when going to work. So I guess I can answer the question myself; NO; I will never learn. And a fun time we had Saturday night going to a birthday party. The jukebox was [...]

With the recent announcement of the Academy Award nominations, we thought we'd take a look at songs that could have been written in tribute to some of this year's nominees. They weren't of course, but if they had, most of them would have better selections than the bulk of this year's original song nominees . Just how the Academy failed to nominate Springsteen's song from "The Wrestler" is beyond us. Sure, Dylan and Eminem have taken home Oscars, but so have Phil Collins and Three 6 Mafia. And just for the record, The [...]

Some of you probably agree that countless are the times where I've whined about the lack of quality of the music sent to me in various promo mails. And I've often asked myself why I even bother checking them out. But then suddenly out of the blue something pops up, which makes it all worthwhile. The most recent example is this energetic, anthemic and catchy track; Someone Like Me ; by London quartet glass.ligths . It's not like this is highly original and it does sound like something you've heard times and times before. [...]

Saint Etienne & Tim Burgess [...]
Only two days left, but there's still one Christmas song left in the pipeline. It's this excellent one by talented Copenhagen indie pop/rock quartet Passtime Poets named A Murder Yuletide . + A Murder Yuletide In A Cyclone of Stones reports that Oliver North Boy Choir has been busy recording their next single (they are always busy recording singles - aren't they?). To ease the wait, the trio is giving away [...]

Hits in the Car on the latest (and last?) song from Danish DIY artist One Weekly Gun : http://stytzer.blogspot.com/20 08/12/one-xmas-song.html

One Xmas Song is the 39th and most likely last song of the year by ambitious Danish one-man project One Weekly Gun , and as announced it's completely different from the 38 previous ones. Now unfaithful to his own dogmatic rules of writing, producing and posting the songs in less than three hours, he has rearranged the first song ever published by One Weekly Gun . Appropriately that track was named One Song Every Week and looking back the lyrics predicted the year quite accurately (" one song every [...]
