hellobleached.tumblr.com / / Facebook I knew Jennifer Calvin primarily because of her work with Cold Cave, I didn't know (until a little research into this post) that's she's since left the band, I've no idea why. It's a shame because I really enjoyed her role in the live shows I saw in 2010 on the 'Love Comes Close' shows (all six of them). I was disappointed that her input wasn't all that apparent on the follow-up 'Cherish The Light Years', perhaps she was too. Anyway, that's water under the bridge now [...]
//shot by lana kim Summertime is not over until you down a couple of Tecates and jump in the pool with your clothes on. Unfortunately finding the perfect song to do that to can be a little harder than it sounds, so leave it to Los Angeles to figure it out. Jennifer and Jessie Clavin , who used to make everyone really thrash-happy with Mika Miko, have been slowly releasing a string of 7 inches that combine the best parts of jangly garage, almost-harmonies and surf rock (this is the sound of LA [...]

As Bleached , sisters Jennifer and Jessie Clavin deliver snappy, classically constructed, easy-on-the-ears punk music. The group already has one 7" under their belts—the Francis EP, out now via Ooga Booga —with a second, the Carter 7", due out July 19th on Art Fag . Carter features two new tracks, "Think of You" and "You Take Time." "Think of You," the A-side, is a bouncy three-chord wonder of strummy punk with a sharp bass line and ear-catching vocal melodies: a lo-fi, female vision of the Ramones equipped with head-banging rhythms and [...]

Los Angeles' Ooga Booga store has been a great mail order resource for years and I am happy to see they've entered the record label business. Their first release? It's limited to 500 copies on black wax and from the song "No Friend of Mine", it sounds pretty fuckin' ripped too! Buy yours here !

Lessgo. -M Get On The Move (Original Mix) - Bingo Players ( Golden Banana ) Hell yes. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is time for me to introduce you to a new feature. As I'm sure most of you do, well as you are doing now, I find most of my new music on the world wide web. So I thought, why not share with you the five best vitamins I find every week, plus one cool picture? It's slightly different from what we normally do, where we like to focus on an artist or a genre for instance, but I think that approach sometimes leads to some real bangers slipping the net. With this [...]

That was quite a ride, apartment hunting wasn't easy looking for somewhere temporary less than a year, pure stupidity to attempt such a task but I made it happen. With all that looking and stress, I totally forgot about the little things like getting internet and listening to music altogether . It's all done now, except for the annoying lady downstairs who complains we're somehow making too much noise while napping, maybe it's the garbage chute right beside your god damn apartment or the garage right underneath? My friend said it best, make better life decisions, [...]

Hi guys ! So, it's time for my top 5 bangers, the choice has been difficult but here it is finally. #5 Futurecop! - Transformers (Ooga Booga Remix) [click to download] First time I hear something from Ooga Booga, and this sounded pretty good. I couldn't find anything else from him/her/them, [...]

Australian duo, Futurcop! , make some beautiful synth-pop. Futurecop! came to be when Manzur Iqbal Ahmed and Peter Carrol met at College and found out they shared a passion for their childhood movies and cartoons. This passion manifested into electronic melodies, power synth chords and sounds inspired by their childhood memories-everything from Michael J Fox to My Little Pony In 2009 they signed with LA based label Iheartcomix for USA & Canada and Fatboy Slim's Label Southern Fried Records for the rest of the world for their debut EP The Unicorn & the Lost City of [...]

"The Finger" (I like cellphone cameras. Soon they'll have the same status as lomo cameras. In ten years, the hipsters will search eBay for cheap Sony Ericssons, because they love all the the 'personal pix') Yesterday, Futurecop! and Familjen did a great gig at Betong here in Oslo. Futurecop! started off with a mind-blowing nu-disco set. Familjen played some new tunes and 'Familjen's new sister' Ninsun Poli did some killing female vocals. And today, I think spring has officially arrived here in Norway too. I'm kind of happy. [...]

More great rock from Australian turf surfaces around these parts. After a brief run in with out-of-print status, this Eddy Current Suppression Ring side project is back in full press on the band's Aaargt label. The Boogas feature guitar work from ESCR's Eddy Current himself and they share some of the gritty plod that he lays down in his day job. Missing however are Brendan Suppression's frank and visceral vocals which may be the main drawback of the record, but for the most part this is a solid 70's inflected garage punk killer. The guitar work burns with the same [...]
We really like Eddy Current Suppression Ring here at Rose Quartz, so when the first eva ECSR side-project, Ooga Boogas, dropped a SURPRISE ALBUM on us last year we went crazy with expectations of revolutionary, bonerfying genius beyond compare and that. WHAT THE SHIT? , we thought, THESE BROS HAVE BARELY RELEASED TWO ALBUMS AND ALREADY THEY ARE BRANCHING OUT AND EXPERIMENTING WITH DIFFERENT NAMES AND LESS-GLOVED SINGERS . (Truth: NO ONE in Ooga Boogas wears gloves.) Ooga Boogas – Neon Sunset Virile riffage. Sludgefest '08. [...]

The Ooga Boogas is an Australian garage rock four-piece featuring members several notable Melbourne bands. When they made a couple of stops in Austin earlier this month they were selling a garage/punk/surf concept album called Romance and Adventure, and it is pretty much the only thing I've been listening to for the past few days. You should be able to pick it up through Australia's Aarght! Records , Waterloo Records or Bomp . This thing holds some seriously good rock 'n roll [...]

Ahhhhhhhhh! Big scary kitchen sink! Time once again for one of my internationally, supernaturally lauded Halloween mixes. The past couple years I've scoured the world-wide far-and for the best - well, the readily available and modestly acceptable - surf and psychobilly horror-themed tracks. This time around I've stitched autumn-appropriate chunks of this and that into one monstrous mush. Along with a bit of 'billy there's garage, funk, indie rock (yikes!), and a splattering of novelty tunes.* There're only two rules governing Halloween mixes: Any track with a "Bouahahahaha!" on it is [...]
