i can't believe the elephant 6 holiday surprise reunion tour is underway, and as always, i can't be there at the party for obvious geographical reasons. as reported in pitchfork , the whole gang - members of the olivia tremor control , the music tapes, and yes even the elusive recluse jeff magnum was present, shouting their way through old favorites like otc's "the opera house". "the opera house" is one of my favorite otc songs, an stomping opener to their debut dusk at cubist castle album from more than ten years ago. sometimes, otc likes [...]

[Photo Credit: Ami Barwell] Mypsace // "100 Years" [Audio] // "Diane" [Video] // Change in Nature EP [Buy] Novermber 10th will see the physical release of Change in Nature (it's on iTunes now), the debut EP from London group Operahouse . So...yawn. About a million years ago, I went to Dot to Dot festival in Nottingham (first part here). It's a beautiful city, as the above photo taken in the town square testifies. Here is day 2. Upstart North London quartet Operahouse create an excellent mix of sharp, punchy indie rock. They've caught the eyes and ears of Zane Lowe, Jonathan Ross and the NME , while their new single, "Diane," will be out on May 5th. Each time I look at the single's cover, I think the girl (Diane, I presume) is vomiting rainbows, but on second glance, it's apparent that the lights are coming from her eyes. Look for them at The Hope on May 16th. [...]

Our time across the pond will culminate with three days at The Great Escape in Brighton, which will play host to 200+ bands, including some of those that have gotten a lot of ink in these [...]
for the past two or three weeks, I've received lots and lots of music, all send to me by some bands or DJs, and I'm really, really sorry that I couldn't get earlier to it. I can't discuss all the bands today, so I'll do a part 2 in the next couple of days. Let's start with the Buffet Libre DJs, who send me their own set called Verbena Selected, which was not only put together by them, but also
