We've already featured Young Wonder 's gorgeous video for "Orange" , but if any group was ever deserving of a full write-up, this duo are. There's Rachel Koeman, who provides the lyrics, melodies and the vocals themselves, and Ian Ring, who provides the musical foundations for it all. Between them, they can knock out some pretty killer music. In the course of my research, it transpired that Ian doesn't like crisps (that's chips to Statesiders; and yes, you could fairly describe my research as exhaustive). I'm not sure how much that [...]
As of tonight, if you add up all the Sunday Mix Tapes I've ever made, you get exactly five years worth of music. I don't go around boasting about how I was the first music blog to conceive of a weekly mix tape…but I sure go around thinking as much! Seriously, who the hell even [...]

A few weeks ago, Thelonious Martin dropped the instrumental album, Colors . It featured all new instrumentals and invited emcees to get a little trippy. Ryshon Jones took him up on his offer, and went in over Thelonious' track, "Orange". He finished it last night, and decided to waste no time in giving it to the people. Check it out below.

Miss Info gets the exclusive on this track with Asher allowing her to let it hit the web first. The song is pretty dope even with the obvious sample in the beat. Asher always delivers solid bars and with the guest appearance of MMG's, Meek Mill, the track stays strong the whole way through. The track drops on iTunes tomorrow (good luck finding a download link today) so be sure to cop it. Check it out below.
Check out the video for " Orange " by Young Wonder below. This duo out of Cork, Ireland have the perfect mix of electro-pop, dubstep, and house that channels these genre's they loosely fit into rather than using them as a crutch. What's not to respect about that? Young Wonder just released their debut self-titled EP a few days ago, to say it is worth checking out would be a drastic understatement. Young Wonder - Orange Big sounds. Big head dress. Not one in the same. Directed, shot and edited by Brendan Canty of Feel Good Lost who makes some of the best viddies around.
The first release from Feel Good Lost Records is the debut EP by Young Wonder, a duo comprised of Ian Ring and Rachel Koeman. After a couple of beguiling tracks, we now get 'Orange', a mesmerising mix of cut-up vocals and swirling sounds. I've been listening to the song a [Read more]

Cheap Girls Giant Orange Rise Records [2012] Fire Note Says: Cheap Girls third LP treats the listener to reality. Album Review: Giant Orange is the third LP from the Lansing, MI trio Cheap Girls. The band comes at you this time with their most straight forward and simple power chords yet as the gruff vocals of singer Ian Graham leads the listener through ten [...]

No one has shaped my view of music more than James Yancey. He challenged our idea of music and pushed us towards a more progressive and creative appreciation of hip hop. He died six years ago, but the music lives on in his wake. This project is dedicated to the life and memory of the one and only J Dilla. -L'Orange DOWNLOAD "Still Spinning" ON BANDCAMP CLICK HERE L'Orange: Twitter • Facebook • Bandcamp [...]

As 2011 draws to a close, I wanted to throw my own two cents in about what I considered the best albums of the year. 15. The Smile Sessions- The Beach Boys When Brian Wilson announced that The Smile Sessions would be released, I was ecstatic. I still don't own a box set to this day, but I've been [...]

There are lots of times when texture is everything, and I'm often happy to wile away the hours rubbing musical contours over my ears. Then there's sweet guitar pop, with its equally sublime pleasures. Oranger - Crooked in the Weird of the Catacombs
I've made no secret of my general distaste for black metal, going so far as to call for a boycott of one of the sound's most celebrated and influential figures. Without question, I'm not the ideal person to defend any aspect of a subgenre that I consider an eye-rolling, oft-racist joke. And yet, Tim Hunter [...]

Mark E's debut album "Stone Breaker" on Spectral Sound veered away from a craft he'd come damn close to perfecting: the re-edit. A quick browse through youtube or the "alt disco" section of your local record store will unearth pounds and pounds of sweetly refined sample material that Mark E has seamlessly reassembled in a way that keeps the excitement of the source while crafting a completely separate final product. R+B Drunkie was actually the single that launched now internationally sought after Golf Channel Recordings' label. So, if the tracks on Stone [...]
On the Facebook page of Britpop spongeboys Shed Seven there's a contest where you can submit a video and win a chance to support them at an upcoming gig. Sounds good, doesn't it? The winner is decided simply by the number of people who decide to "like" each entry. Beginning to sound a bit less like a good idea now, don't you think? Up until this morning, the clear leaders were noisenik circuit benders Cementimental. Not really the sort of thing that appeals to your typical Britpop fan. It's possible that some Shed [...]
