O+S is the musical collaboration between Orenda Fink (Azure Ray, Art in Manila) and Scalpelist (aka Cedric LeMoyne of Remy Zero). What started as a friendship nearly two decades ago in Birmingham, Alabama, has bloomed into an intriguing alliance. "Orenda and I have been friends for 16 years," LeMoyne offers. "When Remy Zero was just starting and becoming successful in Birmingham, Orenda and her musical partner Maria were a 16-year-old songwriter duo that would just hang around. We quickly recognized a talent in them and knew they would do well." [...]

Orenda Fink of Azure Ray and Art In Manila , and Scalpelist, aka Cedric LeMoyne, of Remy Zero might sound like an odd-couple collaboration, but the two musicians have come together to form O+S . After a long formed friendship that's been going on for about a decade in Birmingham, AL, O+S is now signed to Saddle Creek Records , and we've got two new tracks from their just-released-yesterday (March 24) self-titled debut: "Permanent Scar" and "We Do What We [...]

O+S is yet another new alias for Orenda Fink, formerly of Azure Ray and Art in Manila . Despite the fact all of her bands feature different collaborators (the other half of O+S is Scalpelist of Remy Zero), Fink would probably be better off simply releasing albums under her own name since it is her voice that drives each project. If you liked any of Fink's previous bands, you'll like O+S. Their self-titled debut will be released on March 24th. O+S - We Do What [...]
Pop/Alt - O+S is a fascinating and adventurous new project from Orenda Fink (Azure Ray, Art In Manila) and fellow Birmingham, Alabama resident Scalpelist (aka Cedric LeMoyne of Remy Zero). The self-titled new album, due March 24 via Saddle Creek, emerged after Fink began a sonic art project involving the composition of musical tracks based on sound samples that were collected at various locations ranging from Omaha (her adopted home base) to Haiti. [...]

Canadian collaborative Broken Social Scene is known for great and experimental music where the only thing more surprising than what they'll think of musically is who will play with them next. Popwreckoning 's Bethany got the chance to talk music and food with one of the group's core members and co-founder, Brendan Canning . Read the interview below: PW: Let's start off with some recent events. I just caught your Omaha show and you had to do an impromptu DJ set. BC: [...]

Legendary. That's the only way to describe the last time Canadian collective Broken Social Scene 's last show in Omaha, Nebraska. Last year the guys were just chilling at a local coffee shop without a booked show, when a native recognized the boys and insisted they play. Broken Social Scene agreed and quickly set up over at the Slowdown Jr. stage. There was no announcement or promotion, but word quickly spread and a decent sized crowd gathered in front of the stage for a free, intimate set by BSS. They closed down the bar and went on their merry [...]

Saddle Creek Records have always embraced the strong, empowered females singers ( Orenda Fink , Jenny Lewis , Maria Taylor ) and the tradition continues with Elizabeth Powell in the recent release of Land of Talk 's Some Are Lakes . Powell's voice carries the power of Fiona Apple and when combined with the support of the band, many of the songs have the quality of Fleetwood Mac . Like many female singers, Powell sings of love, death and feminism. Although, some lyrics walk a [...]

If electro indie pop group The Faint gets you swooning, then this is one interview you don't want to miss. Lead singer Todd Fink took the time to talk to Bethany about the band and how to live the good life when not on the road. Check it out: PopWreckoning, Bethany: So Fasciination was the first time you guys did everything in your album making process. What sort of new challenges did you face with that? Was it similar to remixing? Todd Fink, The Faint: Yeah, [...]

Orenda Fink and Maria Taylor are Azure Ray . Their music is delicate, deeply emotional, and hauntingly personal. November and Sea of Doubts , in particular, are sung in almost a whisper, delivered directly to the ear of the listener. It is this soft quality of Azure Ray that makes their sound so touching and pure. mp3 If You Fall mp3 November mp3 Sea of Doubts [...]
