The band will be joined by fellow SoCal reggae/ska mainstays The Aggrolites , so be sure to get their early for a serious warm up. To enter, just [...]

I'm not sure how I can still be hanging onto the idea of summer when we're now officially into November. I packed away all my summer clothes weeks ago, and I've enjoyed plenty of nights splayed out on the couch in front of the fire. Nonetheless, I'm having a hard time accepting that we're into cold weather season for the long haul- not to mention dealing with the thin layer of ice I've been finding on my car in the mornings lately. Summer is my season, yet I live in a part of the country where it is by far [...]

Check out my preview of the week's shows with some videos of my top picks, including Ween, Battles, and Steve Kimock & Friends. Monday's all [...]

The word aether means "shine" in Greek, and the fundamental reality of such an unseen, fluidlike source of universal energy has long been a hallmark of the world's secret mystery schools. The works of Greek philosophers Pythagoras and Plato discussed it at great length, as did the Vedic scriptures of ancient India, referring to it by several names such as "prana" and "Akasha." http://www.dub.com/2011/09/30/ dubcast-43-special-guest-mix-d on-orgoneaether/ deepgoa.blogspot.com underground music guide _________ © dg , 2011

Editor's Note: Like last year, we decided to have two writers go this year and provide two perspectives of this year's Outside Lands Music Festival. We have myself and local comic personality, Ivan Hernandez. So enjoy our little journey through San Francisco's largest and most popular music festival. IVAN : The 2011 Outside Lands festival was going to great by virtue of line-up alone. How many weekends could there ever be in which you could see The Black Keys, The Roots, Arcade Fire, Latyrx, and a host of other bands perform in Golden Gate Park? With [...]
We take a look at several up-and-coming acts from this year's Outside Lands that may have been overshadowed by headliners like Arcade Fire and Phish. Their reputations for infectious and enthusiastic live performances is what earned them their time on stage, and also the reason for their surges in exposure after the festival ended less than two weeks ago. Look inside for audio clips.

I made a point of getting up early on Saturday morning of the 15th Annual All Good Music Festival to catch some of the local talent at the Grassroots Stage. Having been told by numerous local media sources that they were a hot ticket, I made a point of seeing a bit of Fletcher's Grove from nearby Morgantown. As usual, I was not as quick making the trek as I'd hoped and arrived about halfway through the fledgling jamband's first set, just as they were finishing a very strong cover of Buddy Holly's classic Not Fade [...]
So in case you haven't been following all the drama with The Faceless this week, here's a quick run-down of recent events: I noticed that recent tour videos of The Faceless in Europe featured the band performing with a vocalist who is not Derek Rydquist. Rob Pasbani from Metal Injection hit up Rydquist for a [...]
Skeletons' new album, People, continues their rich mash-up of freak-folk and prog-rock, all while remaining separate from other contemporaries like Timber Timbre, Man Man, and Bruce Peninsula. People explores fuzzy narratives with fictional characters as idiosyncratic as the five-piece's bustling sound, with producer Rusty Santos masterfully keeping Skeletons' hypersensitive ambition in check. [...]
The weather was ideal, there was a beer truck tapped with New Belgium Brewery's Beers (among others), and the artists delivered. Yes, 'twas such a good time at the 2011 McDowell Mountain Music Festival , that I think that, over a week later, I've finally fully recovered. Of the three days of music on the main stage, I missed only one band - Friday's opener Paper Snowmen. Sorry Paper Snowmen, I'll make it up to you somehow. Day One [...]
The lineup for Jam Cruise was announced first thing this morning here on the West Coast, and I couldn't be happier that I've already taken the plunge and pre-booked a cabin for the 10th anniversary of the floating festival that everybody has been raving about for years. This will be my first year on the boat, so I'll be seeing plenty of unbelievably great music all while sailing the seas and partying with my fellow like-minded fans. Can't wait. One of the bigger reveals of the lineup has been the port destinations that [...]
