Lady Gaga is headed to Springfield, and she's not packing light. Entertainment Weekly shares an exclusive pic from the pop star's debut cameo on The Simpsons , featuring the singer wearing a white-and-seafoam frock seemingly inspired by this tour costume . In case you thought the animated Gaga would have some restraint the real-life Gaga does not possess when it comes to her wardrobe, this is only one of 18 outfits she'll wear during the episode, which airs on Fox on Sunday May 20. "Your skin is coming off in my hands". That's one of the standout (and slightly nightmarish) lyrics in 'Drakes', a new song from Liverpool's Outfit which portrays that line with subtle instruments that bleed into each other over a muted funk beat. The track is taken from the band's new Double Denim 123 EP Another Night's Dreams Reach Earth Again . Tracklisting 1. Everything All The Time 2. Humboldts 3. Drakes 4. Dashing [...]

As if we weren't already excited enough for the forthcoming Outfit EP, the band have dropped another track in the form of the atmospheric and mesmerising Drakes . The EP, Another Night's Dreams Reach Earth Again, is set for release on May 14th via the ever-brilliant Double Denim label. The tracklisting for the record looks like this; Everything All The Time // 2. Humboldts // 3. Drakes // 4. Dashing in Passing ...and you can pre-order from the Double Denim shop by [...]

Is there any other way to return from a planned absence than with a controversial defamation of one of indie's most admired bands? No. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not about to criticise the critically unassailable Dirty Projectors simply for the sake of it; they've always been a very impressive band owing mostly to Amber Coffman's ethereal vocals, but I've never been able to get past a feeling of emotional disconnection beyond that. In other words, they've always seemed brilliant in a far too ordered and sterile way; always something to admire as a thing of beauty but never [...]

After taking the crown in the recent BBC 6 Music blog awards , Liverpool's Outfit have unveiled new track - "Drakes" - taken from their forthcoming EP 'Another Night's Dream Reach Earth Again'. continue reading >>

Unfortunately, for the next two weeks I am being a horrible bastard and leaving the whole reality thing, meaning that blogging is very unlikely to happen. So here's what I can just tell is going to be going down in the next two weeks: The GIT Award It has been presented as the Scouse Mercury award but, having seen the shortlist, that's probably a bit of an insult to the artists that have made it – and the Mercuries aren't even that disastrous, the current crop of Liverpuddlian artists are just that [...]

Some record labels just nail it every single time. It's obviously rare, because scouting for the very best new music is one thing, but then actually signing them can require further fortune, as you compete with so many others, but every now and again a record label appears and it delivers band after band of awesomeness. Double Denim is one such label. They can proudly mention current hype magnets, such as Outfit and Zulu Winter , when discussing their roster, having already released the likes of Blackbird Blackbird , Body Language and [...]

New Mixtape! Commuute - A Portable Playlist Sometimes it feels nearly impossible to go anywhere without a pair of headphones and some really good tunes blasting in your ears. It doesn't matter where you're going or how you get there- try making this music the soundtrack and see if it doesn't make the commute a little easier. This mix is designed specifically for strutting, but it should work on any mode of transportation. Some songs for the travel to your destination, and a few in there for your way home- [...]

Well, what better way to break the silence than with some genuine excitement? Last year saw Outfit turn the entire credible music press into fans with just one single, and so everything that they subsequently put out was always going to be meticulously ripped apart and analysed for every clue that they might be satisfying the hype that's been put before them. To be completely honest, even though "Two Islands" was one of the most breathtaking, eclectically brilliant songs I heard all year, I was slightly worried we'd all set expectations too high for such a new band [...]

Outfit are a confusing band aren't they? At the end of 2011 we placed them in our Ones to Watch 2012 list because after some initial online buzz and a few so-so tracks they took things up a gear with Two Islands , a preposterously subtle but hip-wiggling tune that had us all collectively pigeon holing them under the sign 'The New Wild Beasts'. Now with those credentials established here's the new Outfit single. And it [...]

It's some point well beyond ten and diminutive yet devastatingly absorbing Towns frontman James MacLucas is demonstrably berating indeterminate bands born of suburban civilisations akin to their native Weston in size, stature, population and what have you, along with the wilting of a punk ethos that's led to the hypocrisy of purveyors of said genre taking to the streets in boldly emblazoned skate memorabilia. London, by their own measure, is a bit of a "fucking weird" one, their primary qualm derived from the difficulties entailed when attempting to locate valid parking space yet starry-eyed, loose-lipped and spring-heeled they [...]

scouser outfit i've never heard of by the name of the OUTFIT cover the January 2012 issue of THE FLY. and not one of the rocking-quintet have got a face worthy of sitting on. wotyougot

The title says almost everything that needs to be said really, so we'll avoid a few minutes of pseudo-philosophising about the whole "end-of-year" obsession (bottom line – we love them), as these are simply my favourite songs from 2011, and therefore they are all right. But please feel free to argue in the comments, it wouldn't be an end of year list without some of that. Fortunately, each song really does speak for itself, which is convenient because I don't have a spare day to write about each one of these magnificent musical beasts, to be absolutely honest. So hit [...]
