Earlier today Murdoc the front animation-man announced who the guest collaborators were for the new Gorillaz track via Soundcloud . The two lucky artists are Andre 3000( Outkast ) and James Murphy( LCD Soundsystem ). Gorillaz are coming back in a big way in 2012. The band announced, via the Twitter feed of Murdoc Niccals , that they would be teaming up with Andre 3000 of Outkast and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem for a brand new track called "Do Ya Thing." This is why I love the Intertent. These are the type of things you only find on accident—kind of like those random HBO movies you get sucked into at 4:30 a.m., that actually turn out to be really good. Anyway, these two guys absolutely nailed Outkast's classic "Kim & Cookie" skit from Stankonia . I literally busted out laughing at the "Dick so shawt" part and the dude with the black hat had me in tears with his facial expressions. Yup, this was the perfect way to start my Thursday morning.
This is major. After a week plus of speculation and debate, we now know who will record along side the Gorillaz in this latest installment of Converse's "Three Artists. One Song" campaign. There has been a ton of great music dropping over the past week or so, and I am still getting around to sharing it here on Potholes. This fabulous Hypnotic Brass Ensemble cover of Outkast's horn-heavy "Spottieottiedopalicious" is one of those pieces. Ignited by the fury of brass, this Outkast original is brought to new live heights. I'd love to see these guys continue to push the limits of hip-hop, possibly with the release of a new cover album in the near future. Hit the skip to hear the cover.

The good folks over at ArtDontSleep sent over this track to celebrate their booking of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble for their event with EVFA "Homage". If you're in the Los Angeles area on February 23rd make sure to stop by Exchange LA for the event. Hypnotic Brass Ensemble is made up of eight brothers from the south side of Chicago.
