Although five years old, Owen Pallett's sophomore album, He Poos Clouds -released under Pallet's former artistic name, Final Fantasy -can never become outdated. It's a great way to encounter Pallett for the first time. This is in part true because his most memorable songs are in this record. This work is made up of ten songs, which consist of string quartet arrangements; Pallett plays violin, organ, viola, harpsichord, piano, bass and sings. Though you might think this record is a classical work, you have to keep in mind [...]

BAM! Bet you were expecting a Best of 2011 list, yeah? Well I don't got time for that (YET)! No...this is where I acknowledge all the great stuff I missed in 2010. 'Cause it doesn't get any more rock n roll than to talk about shit that's over a year old. Write that down in your How to Be Rock N Roll notebooks. Anyway, the last time I wrote this list , I spent quite a while talking about how there isn't enough time in one year to listen to all the potentially great releases and put [...]
![[Introducing] – The Lost Cavalry](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3900862_lg.jpg)
Tweet Founded in 2009 by Mark West (former guitarist with Fanfarlo), The Lost Cavalry are a London-based alt-folk five-piece. Releasing their debut EP, "Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills" in 2010 on their personal label, Two Six Heave , they have recently released their EP "Snow City Radio" (also via Two Six Heave ) on November 21st. Upon first listen, it is easy to draw comparisons with Beirut as well as DeVotchKa, albeit with a decidedly more [...]

Of all the tasks assigned to the music critic, evaluating a cover song may be the most difficult. The grade bestowed upon any re-make depends not just on the quality of the performance, but also on the grader's relationship to the original song, not to mention his relationship to that relationship (Do you love covers of songs you hate? Do you hate covers of songs you love?). As such, there is bound to be disagreement about a list like this. Some will wonder why I included no covers from the Nirvana or U2 tribute albums that were released this year; [...]

As a part of March's Ecstatic Music Festival, lo-fi gods the Mountain Goats will be putting on a surely incredible show with medievalist, female a capella group Anonymous 4.

Owen Pallett By Stef Siepel Eindhoven is radiant due to all the city lights that have been placed for the Glow festival. Massive amounts of people are ant-like finding their way through the city center, which is bending if not breaking. In the midst of it a huge church is crowded by a throng of people, who see light coming from the House of the Lord and think, Well, maybe there is something in the church that has to do with Glow. So people hoard around the entrance, most of [...]

Frank Yang Calling this "day one" of Iceland Airwaves isn't strictly correct. Though the festival did really start in earnest on the Thursday, there was a fair bit of programming on the Wednesday night and though I was on the fence about leaving the comfort of the apartment late at night, I fell on the side of heading to NASA, one of the festival's main venues, facing onto Austurvöllur square a couple blocks away. The attraction were Iceland's own Of Monsters & Men , whom although a new band - [...]
Watch Eddie Vedder, Regine Chassagne, and Owen Pallett (of Arcade Fire) cover Bruce Springsteen and Cat Stevens songs.

At the Toronto Film Festival this weekend, the charity group Artists for Peace and Justice held a special fundraiser luncheon featuring performances from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Arcade Fire's Régine Chassagne, and Owen Pallett. As ArcadeFireTube points out, all three musicians came together at one point to cover Bruce Springsteen's "My City of Ruins". Check out the video below.

Ik zou wel graag willen drummen. Of viool spelen.

1. Teen Daze – "Gone For The Summer" 2. Braids – "Lemonade" 3. Beirut – "Goshen" 4. Owen Pallett – "Hard to Explain (The Strokes Cover)" 5. Youth Lagoon – "Cannons (Shades Remix)"

Frank Yang The timing of Beirut's first shows back in Toronto in a couple of years was a bit curious, coming as it did three weeks before the release of their new record The Rip Tide (though it's out digitally tomorrow). You wouldn't hear any word of complaint about it from their fans, however, as most would already be acquainted with the new material via live recordings circulating online and any opportunity to see the Zach Condon-led orkestar was to be celebrated, not questioned. Particularly when there were two [...]
