girl you know it's NEW on magic marker records. Tullycraft - " The Punks are Writing Love Songs " ( Magic Marker) record out October 23, 2007. when Tullycraft had that song out called "F*** Me i'm Twee" i was like, dude, that is NOT twee. i think i missed something. someone please explain if i am. Their next record includes this song which has punk and love in the title, which is twee enough i guess. it begins with a Ramones-like "hey, hey, hey" and guitar riff. oh [...]
Take a wild guess. . . Several interested parties recently sent nice product my way, so I'm sending it yours. They emailed it to me, but I'm posting it here at the blog. Just thought I'd make that clear. The Krinkles - Gimme Gimme mp3 - Mucho grateful I was when Krinkle Matty Favasa let me post this for awhile back in the spring and happy I am Glorious Noise has made it available now. Thanks to

The Owls were a brand new surprise for me this past weekend – I'd never listened to them before, and now I'm totally hooked. Their new single, "Peppermint Patty," from the forthcoming album Daughters And Suns is an absolutely beautiful slice of pop music pie. The soft acoustic guitar sooths and the harmonies between Maria May and Allison Labonne that open each chorus of the song could even bring the Brawny man to tears. Daughters And Suns will be out October 23rd on Magic Marker Records , and it's sure to [...]

MP3: The Owls - Air In my relationship history, I find that I never learn of any new music from my ladyfriend. I don't know if that is because I date girls with shitty taste or that I'm stubborn ( probably a cocktail of the two ), but at the end they walk away with new favourite bands and I've got nothing. Luckily, once upon a time, I did get a band out of it. That [...]

The Owls are four friends from Minneapolis, three of them songwriters, two of them librarians. Maria May and Allison LaBonne do most of the vocals as well as play guitar and keyboards and write songs. LaBonne's husband, Brian Tighe, does all that too, and he and Allinson are the librarians. John Jerry plays drums. The Owls' music will not inspire you to leap up in the morning, energized and ready to jog a few miles before your first latte. No, their music is for lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, and [...]

Six, or seven, weeks to go until the music starts at SXSW (March 14th), I won't be there, but I guarantee you that the buzz that'll build in the indie music community will be like a pot of strong coffee to me. Last year SXSW had a massive amount of music and the same will be true this year. You may already know that the festival for the past couple of years has hosted hundreds and hundreds of mp3s of bands that were showcaseds at Austin, although this year's showcase mp3s aren't online yet, last years are still [...]

Okay, I'm a bit skitterish about this one, so please bear with me. Back in early December, I went group-by-group, song-by-song through a long list of artists I found at the 2006 South-by-Southwest festival website . I sampled every song I didn't already know and prepared my own list of the ones I liked best, old friends and new. For various reasons totally uninteresting even to myself I've just never posted a big bloc of the songs, some of which are by some of my favorite current artists. Soooooo, I'm simply [...]
Math rock. Ooh, what a high strung genre. Crazy rhythms, driving verses, clashing guitars, energetic vocals. Music to get your heart pumping and adrenaline rushing. While "normal" rock bands make freqent use of 4/4 time, math rockers keep their songs in 3/8, 7/8, and 11/8, or choose to sporadically switch times and tempos midverse. This results in peculiar, unpredictable music which, while

Just because you front one band, doesn't mean you can't front others. From Mike Kinsella's insane membership in five bands to Imogen Heap indistinguishable two projects, the following musical artists divide their creative time.
