![[Listen/Download] Ox- Out On the Weekend](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4047352_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Seems like we posted tracks by Ox quite a few times recently but haven't really said much about him. There's nothing much to him except that he's from the West Coast and writes simple, yet enjoyable songs. Here's one he didn't write though. It's a cover of Neil Young's Out On the Weekend and I think he does Neil some justice. Ox- Out on the Weekend

Ox is a Canadian gem that is grossly under-appreciated in the States. I somehow stumbled across them a few years back and have been smitten ever since. And although I have been batting my eyelashes at them for a years now, I've yet to see them live as they have not hit Chicago or made a trip down to SxSW. The handiwork of Mark Browning and his main collaborator Ryan Bishops; tUCo has Ox at their best - singing country-tinged Americana (Canadiana?) about nothing in particular. And honestly, there is nothing particularly different or unique about [...]

I know, I know. Lists are annoying and trying to assign rankings and value to art is subjective at best. That's why these records - 25 from releases that really made an impact on me in '11 - aren't branded with any type of distinction other than "favorite." These are records, not songs, that warmed my heart, eased my pain, inspired my creativity or simply helped tap my toe or nod my head. They never asked for anything more than a listen, and I was more than happy to oblige. That being said, there [...]
by teepoo The last time I posted something from Ox , it was slightly ridiculous. Well here's something quite different and subtle. Ox- Nico Here's the video. So mellow:

I know we're only into the first week of December, but you know how nutty the holidays can get, what with all the merry-making and the eggnog and the various delicious liquors that go in the eggnog, so who knows if we'll get another Video Hits posted this year. But I have to say, if this is indeed it for the year, it's a great one to go out on. For example, we have what many people are already calling the best video of the year: Kalle Matson's Thick As Thieves . As [...]

I'm totally stoked to share some amazing new sounds with everyone today! Fabian who has never stopped exceeding all expectations has elevated and levitated his sound to a whole new level. His new single gives us something real crispy for us dance music lovers. This sounds like something we would all expect from Afrojack if he took up Nu Disko, or if Moullinex and Mr. Afrojack did some sort of hybrid collabo of the century! The sound is infectious and only makes me want MORE! We can't wait to hear more tracks like this [...]

Fred The Godson, Ox, Louie V, and Joka met in the legendary Hall Of Fame music store in Jamaica Queens NY to spit some free bars.

This weekend, I read the internet from beginning to end (baby watch + the ebola virus will provide you endless hours to unearth every opinion out there). Much like music, there's a lot of shit out there but I did stumble on an interesting post from LA based critic, David Greenwald. It's nice to see a critic/blogger - yes, you can be both in rare situations - care so much, want to revitalize how blogs are viewed and demand better than "me first!" and lazy, fence-sitting posts. " Flagpole Sitta " posts however, I wholeheartedly endorse. [...]

Two things. Firstly, if you like your music to sound like a broken record, great, you're going to love H. Hawkline 's The Strange Uses of Ox Gall and you should go and buy it at the earliest opportunity. Secondly, I don't like my music without pretension. Christmas 2010 was full of snow. Every morning felt like waking up in the Gulag. Still, the room at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff was jam packed to witness H. Hawkline play the Shape Records Christmas party. After a year of rising to [...]

Two albums on the menu today...First, Ox, a DIY band out of Canada, who decided to open their record with a cover of Neil Young's "Out On The Weekend." It's a bold choice, but it sets the tone for their alt-country/indie rock record: It's a little sad, a little deep, and extremely well written. The band has been around since 2004, and their experience shows. Really, this is a fantastic album. I'm offering the Neil Young cover below, along with a brief and beautiful instrumental. There are a few such cuts on the record, and they're always terrific, [...]
Well OX, Montana Da Don & E3 come together for the visual "Where I'm From" off of XO's mixtape Danger Zone . Peep the cameo appearance from Jim Jones.

It is no secret that for the last couple of years Unis has been getting a lot of attention for an arguably perfect chino that she has created by combining ideals from Italy and America. The Gio pant went through a slight modification in cut last year, which was greeted with a mixed response. Everybody has now come out a winner as the Gio is now offered in it's classic form as well as the Gio Skinny with a more tapered leg. Our favourite version of the pant for this season is the Gio Skinny in the Ox [...]

We all know that donating to charity is A Good Thing, but there's no denying that getting ambushed by head-tilting, backwards-walking, clipboard-waving fundraising freaks on pedestrianised city streets makes you want to remove their fake smiles with a collection tin to the chin. Just Giving. Thankfully, there are ways you can be charitable that are less stressful than running a gauntlet of self-righteous do-gooders. Oxjam is an October-long music festival with hundreds of events around the UK, all organised by volunteers. Here's what's going [...]
