I love happy surprises and today I found an exciting one. Yes, the sun was shining for once, in a long, long while, but that wasn’t the all of my joy. The indie-rock band, The Burgeoning , sent in a song submission titled, Lighthouse . This song has strong wooing vocals, amazing instrumental sections, and an epic drumbeat that makes it catchy and memorable. It stands out in my mind as a keeper from a band that has only been together since 2011. The band members are Logan Thierjung (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar), Alex Thierjung (Bass), Taylor [...]
New BANGER by Shookz! New ep now out, he's in some serious company. [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Over the weekend I worked a graveyard-shift construction job. On average I clock in at six feet even and around 130 pounds. A construction worker I am not. But as I swung a sledgehammer with blistered hands into a wall at 3 AM in North Hollywood I couldn’t help but think, “I’d rather do this than work a PA job ever again.” PAing a film set is an easily found entry level job in Los Angeles that nearly every film student or struggling creative looking for quick cash has done; usually one thousand times. It is a soul [...]

THese guys are doing this shit old school, but that's what makes this so good. SOmetimes when I walk around I wonder, where all of the goths went who really do it up, dress the full part, who look like they spent some time in the Matrix. They've got some pretty good shit, you'll be able to spot the influences pretty loud and clear. You dig around a little and you uncover a door to a parallel world where I feel the little bee girl in the blind melon video, someone hand me my fucking 2 foot high platforms and [...]

[So we typically toss a video onto a post when highlighting a new band or a show preview or something and let you draw your own conclusion about it. Sometimes we throw a change-up... strike that -- let’s call it a round up. Most of these videos are of bands we have previously talked about here on Draw Us Lines, so we won’t be telling you much about those bands themselves, just some musings that really aren’t worth a damn. If a picture is worth 1000 words, then a video must be worth a million. Hold on to your hats!] [...]

If you've been with us for awhile, you'll remember Virginia Beach artist /musician Adrian Todd Webb who records under the moniker Seamonster . Back in early 2010 he released his Two Birds EP which was as enchanting as it was concise (it was released on limited-edition 73 format). A little over two years later he's lovingly stitched together a new full-length of fuzz-toothed and computer-transmuted folk titled Baldessari . Since Webb is as well known for his work as an artist as he is for his music, it should probably be [...]

[The New Classics is a reoccurring segment in which we examine our favorite indie releases that are bound to replace our parent’s “classic rock” stash hidden in the attic or the basement. Ben Kitterman Ben Kitterman was enjoying a much needed break from the tour in Indiana when I had a chance to catch up with him. Just a few nights before he was 1,500 miles away playing in Biloxi, MS.; a place that holds fond memories for him. Biloxi is the city where he first coupled with the front man of Staind, Aaron Lewis by joining his current tour. Ben is certainly no stranger to music; some of his first memories were of his mother conducting a full musical orchestra. During this time his [...]
