Next up at Club Cosmique, the nights in March come thick and fast. Joining us this Saturday for a live set we have Richard Sen and Neil Beatnik aka Padded Cell. Originally let loose in order to drop a dub of Big Two Hundred's 'Let it Bleed', their first full scale release came in the Autumn of 2005 with Signal Failure, a prowling slab of sub aqua freak funk that reached like an ESP projection from within the Cell to the darkest corners of the dance floor. . With a sound that draws from [...]
Post-avant-disco revival.

I'm not the first to pick this up, as it usually the case, but we here relish some contact with the Padded Cell and what better than with this rolling (not in a UK garage way) post-punk dancefloor remix of Mr.Foppish Suave himself. Bryan Ferry 'You Can Dance' (Padded Cell Remix) by cmjct

Summer's almost over. School's starting again and even though some of us aren't in school, this time of year will forever be ingrained in my head as the time of year to buy new supplies, perhaps a new school coat, shoes, etc.... It's time to wrap up those last minute camping trips, late night bike rides sound-tracked by a million crickets/grasshoppers, and get ready for the football season. Yes, some fine tracks that's are right just right now. My favourites for the moment and for some others too and soon for you guys also. Today the words will be few and I let the tracks sing for themselves. But don't forget to give the artists all your love! Florence + Machine - You've Got the Love (The xx Remix) Monarchy - Gold In The Fire (Demo) Metric - Help I'm Alive (80Kidz Remix) Fenech-Soler - Lies [...]
Since I've been playing Grand Theft Auto IV lately, specifically the new download content, The Ballad of Gay Tony , the video game nerd in me has emerged. What is surprisingly intriguing about GTA IV is the selection of music that plays while cruising in a stolen (or owned, but where's the fun in that?) vehicle. The electro station, Electrochoc, is hosted by house music pioneer, Francois Kevorkian , whose selection of electro is top notch. In 2007, the radio station featured Justice , Boys Noize , and Kavinsky et [...]

2 years after first being reported, the remixes for LCD Soundsystem's '45:33' have seen the light of day. If they ever fancied making a film out of the story of the 45:33 remixes, they could base a large part of it on the plot of the Usual Suspects: "They became a myth, a spook story that DJ's tell their kids at night: Pop: The LCD Soundsystem 45:33 remixes? They don't exist.. Son: But I've seen the Theo Parrish remix on a playlist.. Pop: It's a myth, a tall tale: The [...]

This has to be one of my favourite tunes ever. Inspired, dark disco funk that builds to one of the best synth lines i've ever ever heard. Tried and tested on many floors, this is a total gem, and since it's only ever received a fairly limited vinyl release, we'll let you all have it. I urge you all to try an pick up a hard copy if you ever come across it. Totally awesome! Download audio file (8A%20-%2005%20unknown%20signa l%20-%208A%20-%20113.mp3) Padded Cell - Unknown Zone

Neighbourhood Romeo No, You Call Him Fatback Band Yum Yum (Gimme Some) Despite its giant floating plastic vortex twice the size of Texas , is my preferred fish provider and general all-around ocean. So, here's a little something from the close-to-the-coast duo Neighbourhood Romeo, comprised of Calgary, Alberta's Wax Romeo & Neighbour . Fun and crisp funk with a up-pitched Loleatta Holloway vocal sample that helps buoy oil [...]

Finally.....after......what ......seemed .......like......ages.....DFA finally released the 45:33, mysterious remix package! For me 45:33 was LCD Soundsystem's finest work, in particular i loved part 1 and 2. "if it's not broke, don't fix it" came to mind when I actually heard this was going to come out, so I was quite apprehensive about hearing it. The first remix on the pack from Runaway actually blew me away, taking their deep disco chugger style to a new level, its outstanding. Initially I was just going to post this tune, but cant, the whole EP is great- each track for different reasons. As [...]

yesterday was one of the best days ever. history, the calendar and traditional learning techniques tell me that it is still winter, yet a solid day of tanning at the beach told me otherwise. days like that always inspire me to make playlist after playlist of the most intensely breezy courtyard music i can find. i have to be honest: being "the guy" that takes over the stereo at sunday parties gives me little tingles. the care-factor sits pretty low if no one likes the music. so anyway, if you and i were at a [...]

LCD Soundsystem 's '45:33' which was originally part of the Nike Run series (music that is good to run too) has recieved the remix treatment. The remixes will all be getting released as 12 inch singles this September, which is sure to hurt the bank accounts of ourselves and hopefully you guys/gals. LCD Soundsystem are also currently working on their follow up to the awesome 'Sound Of Silver' for release in early 2010... 2010.. cannot come soon enough. The remixes: 45:33 (Runaway Remix) 45:33 (Prince Language Remix) 45:33 (Prins Thomas [...]

Let's, for a moment, take a step back from your typical main room d-floor and stumble over to the oh-so-alternative backroom with beanbags and incense burning and a couple of people busting out some way too enthusiastic experimental moves who everyone pretends not to be looking at. The music is nice in here too! Genre is no longer considered. Quirky op-shop garments are essential. You could get started with some things just a little left of center like Bot'Ox, maybe reeling in some curious electro kids. It's got that sort of vicious edge they seem to be drawn [...]

American Manufacturing in Disguise by Alex Carnevale When we look back at the achievements of this lost decade, film students will, in their infinite stupidity, miss the finest contribution of the aughts. There has never been a more subversive piece of art than Michael Bay's Transformers , and with the collapse of industry that marks each day's evening news, there may never be again. On its surface, Transformers is the same product tie-in pablum we've all been forced to [...]
