Maxwell is poised to celebrate his entire catalog in three cities, each set to have two nights of sultry R&B in the way that only the Brooklyn native knows how. Los Angeles, Atlanta & Newark will each get a pair of shows, with the first devoted to early LPs Urban Hang Suite and Embrya and the second set for Now Blacksummers'night . The R&B crooner will be backed by an eleven-piece band when each record is visited in its entirety, some tracks for the very first time. [...]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =AX2wk9MKiF8 The good folk at Production Simple have hooked us up with TWO PAIRS of tickets for the Ponderosa, Houndmouth and Jubalson show on Saturday night at Headliners. Ponderosa out of Atlanta has that cool country vibe that Louisville eats up and Houndmouth may be the hottest act playing in town right now. Plus, it was just announced that they will be part of the Forecastle X line-up. Needless to say, get out and see them. With free tix, you will have no excuse. Real simple. In this first post we will have some of Colorado's finest beers paired with some of it's finest cassettes.

TLOBF faves Outfit have unveiled a brand new video for their debut single 'Two Islands' to coincide with their upcoming outing at London's Cargo on Tuesday 29 November. And guess what, we only bloomin' have two pairs of tickets to give away! The 'Two Islands' single was given a physical release on Double Denim a couple of months back, but the quintet have revisited the song - providing an eerie little clip that was shot entirely by the members themselves. The Liverpool outfit (excuse the pun) are currently [...]
This morning the frost was on the pumpkin, the lawn and the windshield. The tips of the grass glistened in the sun and cracked underfoot when I went to the driveway for the papers. Before I left for breakfast, I had to get the scraper from the trunk and scrape the windshield. It was the first frost of the season. I could see my breath in the morning light. The day warmed quickly, and by the time I'd finished breakfast, it was already in the 402s. Now it is 51° and feels almost balmy. Everything is relative. [...]

This debut track from UK based duo Hunt In Pairs is a gloriously ethereal affair, catching me slightly off guard. Heavily reverb focused, Slow Dance is mirage like in it's sound, twisting around a dubstep influenced beat and dreamy shoegaze inspired guitars. As described by the tracks press release, teenagers ' Zan Crabbe and Jake Jubba are two youngsters with a vision' and it's certainly going to be interesting watching this vision unfurl. Slow Dance by Hunt In Pairs

Tropical pop meets stripped-down dubstep rhythms in this gorgeous track by the young duo Jake and Zan from Cape Verde, with the track "Slow Dance" being their first single under the moniker Hunt In Pairs . We're excited to see what they're up to next. Hunt In Pairs - Slow Dance

It's hard to believe we're already packaging up our second Pairings Box , but it is true. And while Kasey and I do put a lot of work in to preparing the boxes, we don't do it entirely alone. In fact, we receive a lot of help from family and friends alike. This past weekend our friends Jeff, Matt and Melissa all came by and volunteered their time and energy to help us get the goodies together for the November Box (thanks again guys!). I gave them a sneak peak of the TK002 mixtape (which I think [...]

Five pairs for the taking!

Allegedly hailing from the exotic Republic of Cape Verde (if their newly fabricated Soundcloud page is to be believed, and we're not entirely sold by this without slightly more conclusive proof), the first rummage around in the collective mind of Hunt In Pairs bears a particularly tropical fruit in the abnormal shape of Slow Dance. Opening with dissonant howls of guitar that recall both Interpol's Take You On A Cruise and the sort of whale song that must clog up the majority of David Attenborough's iPod (filed next to Biophilia of course), muggy atmospherics and sticky [...]

The folks over at Turntable Kitchen are doing a wonderful job combined two of my favorite things in life; vinyl records and food. This month the San Francisco based food and music blog is launching their first ever pairings box . Kasey and Matthew Hickey are the inspiring couple behind the idea of a "curated food and music discovery experience, delivered to your door, every month." While the idea of combing food and music together is nothing new, Turntable Kitchen takes it a step further and makes it an experience. It's one of the best [...]

This week I'll pair tracks from archives that work well together. Daniel Blummin played "I Just Don't Know How To Say Goodbye." by Sandy Salisbury from 1969. The track was produced by Gary Usher, and mixes late-60's California pop with a cosmic cowboy, late Byrds feel. Listen to this next to Phil Ochs' "Pleasures of the Harbor" played by Irwin. Ochs' sad voice separates the track from Salisbury's--and is part of what made Ochs' a fixture on early FM radio. But both tracks combine the rustic with the [...]

British rapper Tinie Tempah was the first person to spend a ridiculous amount of money for a pair of Back To The Future -inspired Nike Air Mags , shelling out $37, 500. If you think that's a lot (it is), it's quite possible Kid Cudi, posing here with the kicks during a Fashion's Night Out event, spent four times that amount: "Won 4 pairs of McFly's off Ebay, xmas done came early willllyyyyyyy!!!" the sneakerholic tweeted on Saturday. If you can't convince Cudder to gift you one of those bad boys, there [...]
