Pale Young Gentlemen formed in a large unused bedroom in Madison, WI in August of 2004. Brothers Michael & Matt Reisenauer and friend Brett Randall started out as a three-piece (piano, drums, guitar) but soon added Milwaukee-based musician Andrew Brawner (bass) and cellist Elizabeth Weamer. This unlikely group made an unlikely brand of music and speedily gathered the attention of local show-goers from coffeehouses to capacity crowds of 400+ at larger venues...currently, the band consists of original members Brett Randall, Matt Reisenauer, and Michael Reisenauer, accompanied by Beth Morgan on cello, Gwen Miller on viola, and Derek Powell and Matt [...]

It's baroque, it's heartfelt, it is beautiful. If you are an advertising mega executive and can't swing the budget for a Coldplay song and want to target a younger more hip "demo" (short for "demographic" in "the biz" duh) you should throw millions of dollars at Wisconsin's Pale Young Gentlemen . You can get that ever-so-desirable Mac/indie credibility that is so hot right now. Check it out: MP3: Pale Young Gentlemen - Fraulein

Kendi imkanlarıyla yayınladıkları debut albümleriyle bu senenin sonuna yetişen Pale Young Gentlemen , eklektik yapılarıyla -ki Beirut and orkestral pop'a benzeyen öğeleri ironi yüklü tiyatrallık ile sunuyorlar hatta çello+piyano gitarlara karışıyor- ve canlı vokalleriyle bir neşeli bir hüzünlü kabere partileri için taze bir varoluş gibi gözüküyor. arkası yarın... nope, that's not the beginnings of a christmas wishlist in the title; pale young gentlemen are a band from madison, wisconsin who make eclectic, sort of orchestral, & nearly vaudevillian music. and as you might imagine from such a description, they're absolutely fantastic. pale young gentlemen - fraulein pale young gentlemen - single days each of the tracks on the group's self-titled album, distinctly, refreshingly, wonderfully odd album, of which you can pick up a copy here , has a certain theatrical flamboyance - extravagant [...]

Mono In VCF / Mono In VCF (independent) With Portishead having been dormant for the better part of the past decade (only just now stirring again), there's long been a vacuum in the pop music landscape where elegantly retro, John Barry-saluting spy film soundtrack music belongs and that's a niche that the Tacoma, Washington's Mono In VCF is well-suited to fill. Over a bed of lushly reverbed and tremoloed guitars and keyboards, singer Kim Miller's tragic and dramatic vocals act as a portal [...]

Up until yesterday, the forecast looked pretty clear to do a nice little writeup on Pale Young Gentlemen from an ideal perspective: the deliberately blissful position of not doing one's "homework". I'm talking about the intentional act of listening to a band's music with little to no awareness of what others have said or written about them, or even more ideally of what they've said or written about themselves. It's a self-discovery that makes you stop and actually grapple with the elements you personally respond to and recoil from, all the while lending credence to the grating cliche [...]

Pale Young Gentlemen from Wisconsin, US have a great sound. They have a kind of Decemberists feel to them. Indie folk with a hint of classical chamber music... great lyrical story telling too. Pale Young Gentlemen - Pale Young Gentlemen (self-released) Carefully orchestrated, baroque pop from Wisconsin.
Madison, Wisconsin's Pale Young Gentlemen are actually four gentlemen and a lady, Elizabeth Weamer, who plays cello. The other gentlemen include Reisenauer brothers Michael and Matt, and Brett Randall (piano, drums, and guitar), Andrew Brawner on bass, and Weamer. The band's self-titled debut has gotten scores of incredible reviews. Imagine a world where The Decemberists, The Kinks, early Ben

Coming from Madison,WI, our dear neighbors to the north, Pale Young Gentlemen are ready to deliver their brand of classical inspired pop romps to the masses. We couldn't be more excited to have them stop off at the Hideout this Monday (11/5) when they join The Panda Band for another edition of BANDWIDTH . Their fantastic self-titled, self-released album is a surprising treat, the downside is that it's only 30 minutes long and leaves you wanting more. Much has been said throughout the blog-o-sphere , in regards to [...]

As unfortunate as it sounds, contemporary artists with a strong emphasis on classical instruments continue to be a dying breed. It is difficult to argue against the fact that guitars and rhythmic supplementation are often the common melodic forces in modern songs. While musical quality is loosely defined and there are thousands of guitar-oriented songs that I enjoy immensely, there comes a yearning for a change of pace and style. While piano and string instruments are and will continue to be a prominent force in the production of contemporary music, they are often forced to take a backseat in adjustment [...]

I 've been to Madison, Wisconsin more than a few times and don't think I've ever had a bad time. It is a fun Big Ten college town that also boasts a significant amount of culture and outdoor activities and perhaps those sunny experiences with the city at least somewhat colors my perception of the Madison-based indie outfit Pale Young Gentlemen as well. The band has a new self-titled album that is of a jovial brand of music which is one part theatrical indie rock and one part 19th century Eastern European folk music. It [...]
Single Days – Pale Young Gentlemen For the record, this ISN'T Franz Ferdinand. They may share similarly deep vocals, but that's where it ends. Still, I'm quite impressed with my Mum for hazarding such a guess. Next she'll be telling her friends about Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Getting back on track, Pale Young Gentlemen make a quirky blend of music that seams to combine foreign flavours, circus themes and radio pop into formula that quite bizarrely, works. Salvador – Jamie T Jamie T is a bit TOO [...]

Every once in a great while, a CD gets sent to me that actually makes the countless hours I spend listening to bands seem worthwhile. The debut album from Madison's Pale Young Gentlemen is a perfect example. The band itself is a perfect example of why Rock Sellout needs to have another Best Unsigned Band Contest and I'm officially declaring them the first entrant. The band's self-titled debut was recorded in Madison at Smart Studios in November 2006. Their sound immediately brings The Decemberists to mind, but that's too obvious...and really selling them short. [...]
