Reverb Fest in Ballard | 4 October 2008 Reverb is a one day festival curated by the Seattle Weekly that consists exclusively of bands in and around Seattle. Saturday there were 64 bands playing at nine different venues, way more than a single person could ever hope to take in. Some of the venues were ones that host music on a nightly basis like the Tractor, Sunset Tavern and Conor Bryne. There were also many others that you don't normally see live music at like the shoe store Market Street Athlete and the Salmon Bay Eagles. [...]

New AAN songs, and a bold night of experimental rock at the comfy and fun Tractor. Both sound like a good deal to me! read more

Seattle-based, experimental rock band Panda & Angel were one of our earliest MOKB SIRIUS in-studio guests , so we've been keeping tabs on them ever since. The band has been holed-up in the studio the last couple months, and are in the process of finalizing the recording/mixing of their new full-length. Band co-founder Josh Wackerly sent us a taste of the fruits of their labor recently and you can hear more new material at their MySpace [...]

Elvis Perkins Tonight at the Echo Friday's Pick: Elvis Perkins / Let's Go Sailing @ the Echo ($15) – I finally got Elvis Perkins new record. The first half is definitely intense. I've seen him open for the Pernice Brothers and My Morning Jacket this year, and he's a compelling performer. As I mentioned yesterday, Let's Go Sailing had two songs on Grey's Anatomy last night and appeared live on Morning Becomes Eclectic yesterday. Bravo. [...]
Opening band: Panda & Angel By conservative estimates, I think I accounted for at least 25% of the non-band/non-venue-employee/no n-friend-of-the-band audience in attendance at tonight's show - it was great for me, but obviously not so great for The Ettes . This LA-based 3-piece play '60s-inspired garage rock that inspires me to pogo, fist pump, and throw up horns. [...]

Remember that Arrah & The Ferns are on MOKB SIRIUS Blog Radio tonight, so tune in. As always, big love to 91.7 WEEM for allowing MOKB Blog Radio to record these sessions. I just can't sit on these honestly. I've been having lots of bands in, and I know a lot of you don't check the show or don't get to. [...]

Whooooo hoooooo! It's the weekend! I think the beginning of this week started 2 weeks ago, I thought it would never end. But it did, I survived as did you. So to celebrate the kick-off of the weekend I have 3 random songs, that have been playing on the pod for quite some time now. Yippee for random music! Faith The Boy Least Likely To... (George Michael cover) I Love Creedance Casiotone for the Painfully Alone , [...]
So we are taking the week off here. There will be no more posts on WaterCoolerGossip until after Thanksgiving. To tide you over until then, here is a mix of bands/artists I think you should be paying attention to right now. These are mostly new tracks. Maybe there will be some informative posts when we return but for now one sentence explanations will have to do. Get them now because they will be gone when we return. Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday. Real job shizz and all is kinda of consuming more of my life than it used to... Atlanta 41, Pittsburgh 38, OT It was a shootout between the Steelers and the Falcons that went into overtime and was full of milestones. Both Ron Mexico and Ben Rothizzzzleburger threw three touchdown passes in the first half alone. Big Ben was knocked out of the game, but Charlie Batch threw two more TDs to [...]

Panda & Angel Self-Titled Jade Tree , 2006 Appropriately angelic and ethereal, this ep starts out sounding perfectly hushed, simple notes and brushed cymbals. Panda & Angel are sitting pretty with their first release; they're blending some brilliantly timed indie rock with some seriously build-ups; this is the sort of first ep that gets [...]
Panda & Angel , whose song Mexico was recently featured on Said the Gramophone , played four songs in the KEXP studio on Tuesday. These are ethereal in one moment, visceral the next, and all sweetly imperfect. Panda & Angel, Live KEXP 9-5-2006 (mp3s): A Thousand Whispers Dangerous Ohio December 24 Bonus Song
Giselle Numba One - "Crazeee Bitch" Giselle raps like it's a secret, like it's a sample sentence, an acting exercise, like free-form dirty talk. Her broken-voiced enunciation, the way she squishes her t's between her teeth and how she side-steps through words as if bypassing slow-walkers on the street, it's the perfect complement to swampy bass, the clicky climbing bloops, the hunched-over drums. Then in walks a goofy, lanky, Beck-type character who, at first objectionable, wins our hearts with his rhymes, and his smile. And at the end it sounds like the whole thing was a joke. I like it. [...]

Whenever I put together a mixtape these days I am probably violating the fundamentals behind what a real mixtape is. The mixtapes I create are just, more or less, a hodgepodge of tracks in no real order. Although, I do put together theme based mixtapes which is closer to the real thing. According to the Wiki resource - "A mixtape is a home-made compilation of songs (typically copyrighted music taken from other sources) recorded in a specific order, traditionally onto a compact audio cassette. The songs can be sequential, but a true, seamless [...]

Smoosh Hello again. So I have been at King's Island the past three days, and once again have been busy before that. But now I'm here again, and within descent time considering the amount of time between my last two posts. I watched Jimmy Kimmel Live while in Cincinnati last night, and Smoosh was performing their new song " Find A Way " from there latest release, " Free To Stay ". I was absolutely blown [...]
