Wow, the first month of 2008 is officially over. We survived it guys, give yourself a pat on the back. Now, I am looking forward to February and all, but I am kind of sad to see January leave. It truly was a GREAT month for new releases, and music in general. We had new music from Cat Power, Hot Chip, Kate Nash, Radiohead, Justice, Gnarls Barkley, Hello, Blue Roses, Magnetic Fields, and tons more. There were so many wonderful remixes and covers unearthed and polished for our headphones as well. Here is to January 2008, one of PMA's best [...]
The Good: Gnarls Barkley - "Run"; Okay, so Gnarls Barkley can apparently crap any old thing out and make it sound good. On the lead single from their follow-up to the insanely popular St. Elsewhere, the duo adopt the Motown sound as their own, using hand claps and Cee-Lo's perfect voice to create some more pop perfection. If you thought you got sick of "Crazy" be prepared 'cause this is gonna be

It begins in San Francisco on April 10 and ends in Anaheim, California June 14. They will be playing mostly new material from their upcoming album 'Pretty. Odd'. A good bit ago I decided to do a guest blogging series. I wanted to get some of my favorite artists to talk about anything they want (really, anything) and submit it for posting. All I asked was that at the end they list a song or two that they were currently spinning. Anywho, I wanted to kick it off with the Glamour ("Feet 2 the Floor" now on their MySpace page!). Sadly, Asher never quite found the time to hit me up with his Halloween extravaganza blurb. And thus we start with the Teenagers [...]

Ironically (or, coincidentally), our longest post comes from our shortest contributor. Enjoy this guest post written by the man so nice they named him twice: Ander 2 . I just finished my freshman year and came home to the less sinful suburbs of Las Vegas . Unfortunately, my father's supposed sterility delayed by birth until 1987. So, when I look forward to going home, [...]
The winner of Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone's fan-video contest comes off as a truly brilliant critique of contemporary culture... Jamie Kennedy and Stu Stone "Circle Circle Dot Dot" dir. by Blunty 3000 It's hard to know whether a director named "Blunty 3000" could ever intentionally create satire on this level, but much like the song itself, this YouTube phenomenon has nevertheless [...]
Don't for a second think I would pay to go to this. But I did get all kinds of free tickets/vip pass/ backstage shit. So I went on Sunday and ate free food, played a game of madden on the xbox 360 during the Angels and Airwaves set (I still love Tom don't get me wrong). And actually went out of my way to see Panic at the Disco!. I figured i'd never pay to see them live, and I've heard "how omgzz awesome they are live". Well let me tell you, that [...]

(photo by Jeev ) On occasion I have the responsibility, nay, the privilege of venturing out from my safe North London bubble from where springs my work, my play, my habitude, and at times I am required to work on the borders of the City of London, the infamous Square Mile home to as many overweight market traders as can be fit in. It's the East border, which means I work within spitting distance of the lovely Brick Lane , an entire street of curry houses and Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi shops. Awesome Welles, basically, especially [...]
Man am I exhausted. News Lee Seigel gets canned by The New Republic: An Apology to Our Readers After an investigation, The New Republic has determined that the comments in our Talkback section defending Lee Siegel's articles and blog under the username "sprezzatura" were produced with Siegel's participation. We deeply regret misleading our readers. Lee Siegel's blog will no longer be published by TNR, and he has been suspended from writing for the magazine. It was always going to show up there sooner or later: YouTube has the moment where Panic At The Disco got Hit By The Bottle . music youtube reading panic at the disco
Stereogum has been posting the ugly instances of collective stupidity at the Reading Festival. Fans have pelted bottles at performers . First Brendan Urie of Panic! at the Disco gets knocked in the face by a bottle and now it appears that My Chemical Romance have also been targeted for felling via bottle blows from irate (see: drunk) “fans.†Without passing judgment on the quality of musical output of these groups, bands getting intimate with the wrong end of hostile Brits' flying missiles is all fairly idiotic and reminiscent of [...]
It seems the campaign to promote love and peace at this year's Clear Channel Reading and Leeds festivals has, well, flopped, with Panic! At The Disco's Brendan Urie being felled by a missile during the band's first song . PATD were playing on the first day of Reading; although Urie was down for several minutes, he stood up and picked up the song from where he'd left off with a coy "You can't take me out. Lets see how well you guys do with my left side." Which makes Panic at the Disco officially harder than 50 [...]
Surely the end of the world is neigh. Pluto downgraded to a "dwarf planet," and now Bloc Party opening for Panic! at the Disco . Serious wtf-age. Props to Hispanic! at the Disco on their good choice. This is the band that covers "Karma Police" (video) and "Tonight Tonight" afterall. Oh well, Bloc Party got to get paid. For those of you brave enough to mosh with twelve year-olds: 11/7 - Sunrise, FL @ Bank Atlantic Center 11/8 - Orlando, FL @ UCF Arena 11/9 - Atlanta, GA @ [...]

You may remember Tuesday's post about MTV's 25th birthday and my comment about PaniC! At The Disco. The joke was on me. Panic! Panic! at the Disco ~* I Write Sins Not Tragedies *~ (click the song title to sample - or use player in the sidebar) Panic! at the Disco is a pop rock/ electronica band from Las Vegas, Nevada, whose 2005 debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
You may wonder, how can I go from my last post to this pop electronica? Well, I like alot of different kinds of music, except country. With that in mind, I was reading ArjanWrites and found the video premiere for Panic! At the Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Just like Arjan said, well I'll just quote him... The carnival-esque theme of the video for the song combines the gothy wedding tragedy of My Chemical Romance's "Helena" with The Killers' eyeliner-styled campiness in their fabulous Mr. Brightside video. Very [...]
