Después de algunos contratiempos, finalmente la banda oriunda de Las Vegas confirmó su presencia en Argentina para este verano en un evento gratuito. Panic! At The Disco se presentará en Mute Club de Mar el próximo domingo 23 de enero, con canciones de su último LP Pretty. Odd.

It's really nice to see the P!@TD guys trying to make a crossover into country, but they are looking a bit haggard. Hard emo livin'? Remember when Panic! at the Disco thought they were Prince and decided to change their name from Panic! at the Disco to simply Panic at the Disco ? Don't worry, you didn't miss anything.
It's hard to believe that the Young Veins were birthed by former members of Panic! at the Disco. The California five-piece strays far from the carnival pop-punk of its predecessor and instead draws from the tried sounds of the Beach Boys and brit-pop of decades past. It isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's fresh and damned catchy. Check out the new 702s-inspired video for the title track and latest single off of their debut album, Take a Vacation! , above. The best musical in the world? Little Shop of Horrors - obviously. The only 'emo' band we ever had time for? Panic At The Disco (pre and post exclamation mark). So it was with some interest that we listened to to Panic frontman Brendan Urie's new project, Does It Have To Be Human, which is basically an emo covers project, and the covers are songs from Little Shop of Horrors. Obviously, the potential for this to be a horrendous shambles was huge and no one was ever going [...]

Filed under: Video , Exclusive Rachel Been, Spinner.com Black Gold drummer Than Luu channels the ghosts of past musicians each time he hits that snare drum on his kit. That is because the snare drum in question dates back to the '40s, a reflection of his and Black Gold keyboardist/singer Eric Ronick's affinity for vintage gear. "It's been through a lot of stories," Luu told Spinner during the band's Interface performance in our New York [...]
Here's some questions to ponder while you read and answer in a comment below: --> Are you down with MySpace? <-- --> What's your favorite Facebook musician page? <-- --> Have you ever talked shit to a band on Facebook/Twitter and gotten a reply? <-- --> Was your profile picture taken by you in front of a mirror? <-- I still remember when I was a senior in high school and some girl asked me if [...]

The Young Veins may have spawned off of Panic! at the Disco, but one mustn't expect a continuation of the Las Vegas band's emo-pop-punk sound. After the infamous "creative differences" between other members of the band, vocalists/guitartists Ryan Ross and Jon Walker left Panic! at the Disco to form The Young Veins. Along with drummer Nick Murray, bassist Andy Soukal, and keyboardist Nick White, The Young Veins captures the 60s classic pop sound to a tee, even dressing the part. The band's debut album, Take a Vacation! , captures that sunny spirit [...]

Friday Five : \'frī-(,)dā,-dē 'fīv\ : On the sixth day of every week, I hit the shuffle button on my iTunes, then share the first five tracks and thought for each track. Fire up your media player of choice and share the first five random track of your shuffle in the comments. The Five: "Beginning Endlessly" by Prince (from [...]

Never judge a book by its cover and all that, but the front of The Young Veins ' debut album almost dares you not to make assumptions before you've even put the record on. All 1960s colour scene and typography, decorated with pictures of the band in a beachfront setting a la the Beach Boys pre- Pet Sounds , even the CD itself is decorated as a View-Master disk. It's straight away fair to assume Take A Vacation! - another clue as to intentions there - will bear negligible influence from grime or glitch, or indeed any [...]

The split between Panic! at the Disco's Ryan Ross and John Walker & Brendon Urie and Spencer Smith (the latter two of whom stayed in the band...holy conjunctions, Batman) was hardly surprising to anyone who heard the band's divisive second album Pretty, Odd. While this blogger knows plenty of folks who enjoyed that album, the rift amongst bandmates made it clear that Panic at the Disco never planned on paying homage to The Beatles. But when Ross and Walker formed The Young Veins just weeks after word of their departure from Panic! (who was now reunited with their [...]

Ryan Ross, singer and leader of The Young Veins , has a past. As the songwriter in chief for emo-urchins Panic! at the Disco – the exclamation mark was disregarded upon release of their second album, then reinstated later – Ross was responsible for some of the most love them/hate them songs of the past few years. Citing creative differences, Ross, along with Panic! bassist Jon Walker left in the summer of 2009 having formed a prolific song-writing team. Pushing even further towards the 60's pop-rock that Panic!'s Pretty.Odd flirted with, [...]

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive When Panic at the Disco dropped the exclamation point from their name, it was surely intended to signify a newfound maturity, or at least an evolution from the their emo-drenched beginnings -- remember, the band became famous long before its members could even legally drink. But a mere change in punctuation wasn't enough of a revision for songwriter-guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker. They wanted a new start entirely, which is what they got when they dropped out of Panic [...]

I know, as a non-mainstream music blogger (are there mainstream music bloggers, anyway?) that's something I probably shouldn't admit. But I just don't care. The game is ridiculously fun. As someone who never learned much real guitar and fancied himself a sort of music snob, I was reluctant to get into the game. I always thought it would be ridiculous to have a generation full of kids who were experts at Rock Band when they could have put the time and effort into learning how to play actual guitars/drums. But thanks to an irresistible sale last [...]
