Very cool track reminiscent of some of the stuff dial has put out over the last couple of years, possibly a source of inspiration perhaps...Below is a funny video of Pantha du Prince and Efdemin 'larking' about behind the decks to this tune. This track was actually out in 2001, it came to our attention through, the now legendary , 'Taka Taka' mix by Ricardo Villalobos two years later in 2003- I recommend checking out that mix if you haven't already, pretty outstanding. [...]

Me & Gisèle had plans to go see Animal Collective yesterday for about three months but when it was finally there we weren't entirely sure anymore and it was still pretty expensive. But then someone left a shout on LastFM that he had two spare tickets and wanted to sell them for 20 euros. I was almost tearing down my house out of enthusiasm and let him know I was VERY interested. Well we got the tickets in the end, after confusing him with some guy from Wallonia. Thanks again Kristof ! On to the [...]

The latest addition to Italians Do It Better 's already stellar roster of cosmic disco prodigies is NYC's Invisible Conga People . The New York duo list Can, Ethiopiques, Fela Kuti, and Les Rallizes Denudes amongst their influences on myspace, but first single "Cable Dazed" is a hazy number that recalls some of the more sinister, icier jams on the Knife 's "haunted house" masterpiece Silent Shout. Rolling and melodic it is absolutely mesmerising and arguably the the best crossover tune of last year, making both the Pitchfork top 50 and resident advisor top 20 tunes of [...]

Photo courtesy of Aaron Brown This guest post comes from Will at We All Want Someone to Shout For who has selected a few of his favourite electro tracks for us to indulge in. ------------------------------ ----------------- There is so much great music these days it is hard to summarize the various feelings that electronic music can give you. When most people think of electronic they generalize it to stuff that makes you want to show your moves on the dancefloor. However when you really look deeper [...]

Not much going on really in the music world. Here are some songs that you may or may not have missed in the past year or so. Either way, these are songs that for some reason are coming back to me and demanding repeated listens. Some are more recent. In other words, just enjoy: [MP3] : Pantha Du Prince - Saturn Strobe -I believe pitchfork included this on their best songs of '07 and rightfully so. This is a haunting track, and he doesn't even need to speak. This is some dark beautiful stuff. Exceptionally [...]

PANTHA DU PRINCE: First discovered this German legend, Hendrick Weber , when I heard Steiner Im Flug (not up but check it out). His most recent album, 'This Bliss', is a masterpiece in my eyes. For the tunes, not only my favourite remix of his, but near my favourite ever, and then a popular track from the album, enjoy... Pantha du Prince - Walden 2 Depeche Mode - Lilian (Pantha du [...]
Pantha Du Prince released an album last summer that I didn't hear until recently. Which in and of itself means that I'm usually totally out of the loop when it comes to great new electronic music. It's not that I don't like electronic music (because I do). I simply can't keep up with it and (thus) don't devote tons of time to seeking out the latest and greatest. I'm of the opinion that eventually the wheat will separate from the chaff, and so it has. Henrik Weber is the man behind Pantha Du [...]

I've never had an exclusive before. Not that I'm necessarily saying this is one. But a nice person at Rough Trade sent me this, saying that it hadn't been posted before. So I guess this is the closest I'll get to having an exclusive. Of sorts. Regardless, this is a remix by Pantha Du Prince of one of the highlights from The Long Blondes recent second record. Although in truth, it's barely recognisable from the version on "Couples" . Where that is all artful indie, this is a slow [...]

Foto: Complejo While listening to a melody or seeing a geometrical configuration, one is unaware of any non sensory process, nor is the theme experienced as consisting of two strata of different origin. On the contrary, the melody or the configuration, as given in immediate experience, appear as both homogeneous and altogether a matter of sensibility. It is with the same immediacy and intuitive freshness as displayed by the sensation of a color or a musical note, that the perceptual presentation of a melody, a musical interval, a [...]
>>>>>>>best of 2007<<<<<<< uusitalo / karhunainen / huume Finnish producer Sasu Ripatti, also known as Uusitalo, Vladislav Delay and Luomo, has created the perfect blend of deep fractured grooves with organic elegance on his latest release, Karhunainen. The album celebrates all of Ripatti's brilliant signature sounds including reverberating beats, treble-kicking clicks, cut-up micro-house
Today's mix is called Dance Pop Tarts Dance, and as the title suggest it is loaded with dance tunes. Most of these tracks are from the indie realm of things, but a lot of them made successful crossovers into the mainstream world. The one thing they all have in common is that none will leave you standing around while they are playing. So will you guys be listening to this while playing Dance,
Red Blondehead presents: Jackson the Fantastic Bear's 2007 Top 10 (x 2) - straight from his honey-encrusted claws to your computer screens! When Traci asked me if I wanted to do a write-up of my favorite albums of 2007, I didn't even know where to start. I have listened to so much music this year that I couldn't even remember what was released this year, let alone how much I liked it. So I did what needed to be done… I sorted my music by year, pulled out all the music from 2007, [...]

It struck me as strange that Pantha Du Prince 's ' The Bliss ' came out right at the start of this year yet it was only brought to my attention by a friend a couple of weeks ago and then a few days later Resident Advisor decided to review it. Anyhow, that will be of little consequence to most of you and I suspect guess you'll either already be well-versed with it's subtle percussion and playful, almost childlike, melodies or you'll enjoy the experience of hearing them afresh. It's one of those albums that makes [...]

Audiversity's weekly column, slightly modified, on random music in a predetermined number of words between 1 & 150. This week's randomly generated number: 64. MA: A few years back I was DJing a radio show dubbed For Love of the Beat spotlighting a lot of organic-sounding instrumental hip-hop, electronica and other hybrid beat-oriented styles. Though I've just discovered it lately, Josh Abrams' wonderful side-project Reminder is the exact style and mood I was purveying with the show. "On [...]

Pantha du Prince makes minimalist house. That's right. For the longest time I hated house and was under the impression that it meant really dumb, repetitive beats and skinny, sweaty kids doing drugs and waving glowsticks. Apparently I was wrong. This record cruises along at 120 BPM (well, maybe. I have no idea, really. But it's a medium tempo!) and is content to freak you out quietly -- there are no huge samples or drum breaks or instantly recognizable Daft Punk riffs. And it works, because you get so into the synth tones and the spacey groove that when [...]

They were given note-pads and Bic biros. They were given spray-paint and public transport. They were given voices. They were given laptops and imagination. They were given face-paint and glow sticks. They were given voices. They were given a beat and feet to dance with. They were given sofas in night-clubs upon which they could sit, sleep or kiss. They were given hearts bursting with joy and life and love and wonder. They were given everything. ----- If you want to dance, then dance. Just because it's still daylight and the streetlights haven't come on yet [...]
Shake Your Fist doesn't update everyday, but I still check it everyday. I do it in the hope that there'll be a new entry but also just to browse through the considerable archives. It makes me want to strive harder in my own posts, raising the capacity of my writing, digging up untrod descriptors and newborn metaphors. It makes me want to plunder used CD bins too, excavating obscure finds and little-known wonders to champion. Needless to say, Shake Your Fist has quickly become one of my favorite music blogs, a exemplar of quality in a medium often regarded [...]
