California's Paper City has a new record in the hopper and a grand scheme that involves two guys, a girl and a van. And while we're certain it's not as unseemly as we've been lead to believe (nothing ever is), the trio's sophomore release, Popular Talk , sounds mighty promising based on the two songs we've been privy to. Popular Talk drops on July 16th, and will be followed by a stroll across America, including a stop in Naptown on August 18th. [...]

Here's a little something to get your motor revvin' for the opening weekend of World Cup 2010. The Real Nasty are a dapper little trio from San Francisco who kick up a mess of noise with just guitar, upright bass and a homemade cajon . Their gritty and manic country/rawk/blues hybrid would certainly go well with red meat and over-imbibing. If you like what your hear, check out their full-length debut, Paper City , and get yer lazy butt out to see one of [...]

So it is with Paper City , whose Long Beach home brings forth imagery of palm trees, Mexico, and an intense longing for polka-dots and mojitos. Perfect for the band's moniker, Paper City's video for "City Of The Future" features [...]

The perfect antidote for the melancholy of June gloom is a soundtrack companion, like Other Lives. They are tender melody without being achingly maudlin. These melodic wanderings create open plains images of their home state of Oklahoma. This is the second review of a band (Colourmusic) I've done from Oklahoma, and I learned that both bands are from Stillwater. Although there are drastic differences between the bands, they both work in established genres, and have experimental elements and an honesty that demands you take notice.
