"An ache inside your soul, fearing the unknown, don't hide yourself away from being happier," begins the lyrics of Paper Crows new song Happier . Now let's face facts happiness in pop music has always been pretty unhip. When he was reminding us that heaven knows he was miserable now Morrissey was effectively also reminding us just how damn savvy he was. Sarcasm built with a steadfast dislike of the world and yourself is the ultimate in cool when you're young. Of course as you get older, you just become a grumpy old git that nobody wants [...]
Damn, it's been quite awhile since I've heard anything from Grum. Actually it's probably been since 2010 / 2011 for me, which is when I had a chance to photograph him. But in the... Read the rest on Speakerboxxx.com
Here's something mellow to start off your morning. GRUM is a disco-house, electro-pop, producer from Leeds, UK whose most recent EP Heartbeats was wildly successful - featuring the hit "Through the Night." His warm electro-pop remix of Paper Crows' "Changing Colours" is the perfect way to kick start your day. It's smooth, trance-like progression is paired with deep percussion to get you moving. This is baby-making music, just don't make any babies at work - Human Resources frowns on that. Check out GRUM's Soundcloud for more mellow electro-pop treats.
So we know London based Dubby Dark Indie-ElectroPop duo Paper Crows have good taste in reMixers, you might remember their 'Stand Alight' single being reMixed by Monsieur Adi. Released this week was their 'Changing Colours' single featuring a new mix from none other than Grum . having been so quite for a while them three mixes released at once you have to wonder if someone is orchestrating things at castle Grum? 'Changing Colours' is a beautiful, Kate Bush-esque piano driven piece that the Scottish big room producer manages to keep the core feeling [...]

Young, fresh talent unites in this Walden remix of Paper Crows's track 'Metal Hearts.' The newest signing to Pete Tong's FFFR Records, Paper Crows is a British duo who has drawn comparison to a goth version of La Roux. Walden's spin with their vocals driven track is a hard hitting study in pure electro house, with a driving chorus followed by wobbly acid tinged synths. No word on release yet so stay tuned. PREVIEW: Paper Crows - Metal Hearts (Walden Remix)
Remember Kidnap Kid and his sensational remix of Disclosure's "Tenderely?" Well he's back and in shimmering, deep-disco fashion with his new remix of Paper Crows' track "Homebound!"

Paper Crows have announced details of their new EP and employed the skills of Rudimental and Kidnap Kid to a couple of tracks from it. Both reworkings are right up my street. Paper Crows - Happier (Rudimental Remix) Paper Crows - Homebound (Kidnap Kid Remix) 'Build' is due out on 7th May.
Just like lots of other folks in the blog world, we get sent lots of material that is still at the demo stage. It's to be expected seeing as we tend to operate among the bottom layers of the underground music scene, so we expect a broad range of finishes to the work received. However, some is surprisingly polished and it just goes to show how much effort goes into new bands from the outset - something that's required to get noticed, particularly by record labels, if you want any chance of being signed in a very competitive environment, where [...]

I was listening to BBC Radio 1 and couldn't help notice this song. You might call this a cover-mashup. Paper Crows is a duo from London, UK. They are made up of Emma Panas and Duncan McDougall. Their music is very electronica/trip-hop. I was kind of intrigued in how they this cover-mashup by the two most influential female musicians of all time. Covering Kate Bush 's Cloudbusting and using the sample of Bjork's Human Behavior. [...]

There are albums and bands that you come to late. Even the most passionate music fan has to discover records that they missed out on first time round. Sometimes it's because you were just too young or not even born at the time and at other times it's because you were too busy listening to something else or doing real life stuff like work, building a relationship or having kids. We came to The Smiths, The Clash and The Beatles late and there are probably some incredible records, classics even, that we've still not yet heard. Another band that has [...]
Download great new covers of Steely Dan, the Smashing Pumpkins, Kate Bush, Pink Floyd, The Stone Roses, Chris Montez, and Dire Straits.

If there's one track we've been waiting a long time for it's this. It first appeared on Breaking More Waves in the dim and distant past of August 2010 as a You Tube stream (which has now been taken off line) and we assumed it was long buried (but never forgotten). Yet lo and behold, you can't keep a good song down, it's the second coming, this is the resurrection, like the phoenix from the flames etc etc and every other rebirth cliche you can think of, for here it is in a newly spruced up and polished [...]

London duo, Paper Crows have taken some time out from making their debut album to record this beautiful cover of Kate Bush's 'Cloudbusting'. The pair, aka Emma Panas and Duncan McDougall, are signed to Pete Tongs 'ffrr' label and claim this as their favourite Kate Bush track. If you head over to the bands Facebook page you can also download the track 'Gone' for free.

New duo Paper Crows are elctro pop and release their When Friends Survive single on Pete Tong's resurrected FFFR label. A couple of remixes - one a free download. The single has a range of remixes. But here's two. First, the Discopolis remix - the downloadable one. Essentially an indie dance remix. Starts off in an unlifitng manner, carried by the vocals. Eventually, this breaks out the bass and the 303s but never strays too far. Cheery stuff on a grey winter's day. Second, Eats Everything - listen only. This goes off at a tangent. It starts [...]

Elton John once sang that Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting , but we can assure you it's not –wherever you are. It's for loving – musical loving. Right now as this blog posts to the internet at 8.30 on Saturday morning we're driving north to Sheffield. Why ? Follow us on twitter and we'll reveal all later today. But whatever it is please don't Hold It Against Me . Oops! I Did It Again dropping another clue as to what [...]

'Gone' is the B Side of the new Paper Crows single 'When Friends Survive'. I've read fan comments that Paper Crows have ventured in a new direction, but the B Side suggests that the UK duo have just shown another side, rather than changed entirely. 'Gone' is complimentary contrast to the single with Emma's beautiful vocal accompanied by Duncan's sparse piano tintinnabulation. When Friends Survive is released on November 7th through Pete Tong's resurrected imprint 'ffrr'. Gone by Paper Crows [...]

Did you notice it - the most important and momentous piece of news across the internet this week? No, not that in the UK nearly 1 million young people aged under 24 are now unemployed, nor worldwide that President Obama has promised the 'toughest sanctions' on Iran over the alleged bomb plot, nor even the celebrity news that Beyonce was accused of faking her pregnancy with a false bump. There was something that surpassed all of this. [...]

#OCCUPYDENVER was raided this morning and had most items confiscated. This is the most press the group has garnered and Governor and Mayor have stirred a hornet's nest. This act of breaking up the downtown sector will not sit well with many and a strategic move will be needed to keep the movement going. Things are going to get very exciting 'round these parts in coming days. Baron Bane-Echoes (the Deer Tracks Remix) LANA DEL REY - Blue Jeans (Mover Shaker Remix) Trombone Shorty - [...]

Words: Saam Das Well, well, well. It turns out Paper Crows ' new single sounds almost nothing like the old atmospheric Paper Crows recorded material. But having mentioned their "club beats" after seeing them live almost a year ago, perhaps it's surprisingly unsurprisingly that 'When Friends Survive' is almost Paper Crows gone europop. There's little evidence of the Kate Bush, Bat For Lashes and/or Portishead influences that [...]
