Retro, Soul, R&B, Funk - Eli "Paperboy" Reed play's Pittsburgh's Hard Rock Cafe in Station Square on 4/18/12. Eli, a Boston-via-Delta South soul singer, busked on street corners and played punk clubs, conquering both with a sound combining elements of faves from Stax and Motown Records with modern day Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse swagger. Here's a [...]

Tabor Academy, a boarding school in Marion, Massachusetts, had the pleasure of hosting one of the many stops of Blue Richard Media's Takeover Tour as Aer, Dylan Owen, and a slew of opening acts rocked the stage at October's "Fallfest" last month. Levi Bazilio, The Paper Boys, Dylan Owen, and Aer introduced Tabor to an array of different styles of hip-hop to close the festivities, and VTT was there to cop a few exclusive photos for your viewing pleasure. This guy is a bit of a wizard when it comes to electronics. Watch any of his stuff on YouTube and you'll get the idea how this guy shouldn't just be dismissed as just another bedroom producer. In fact, he must be good - The Roots have hired him to co-produce for a track on their new album with RJD2 's new partner in crime, Aaron Livingston . I've heard really really good bedroom producers before but this guy takes the piss a little. Da Paperboy is [...]

Eli Paperboy Reed will be playing tomorrow night at La Flèche d'Or in Paris, the occasion to (re)discover his incredible soulmen voice and his charming new album "Come On And Get It" out last year. We have 3x2 tickets to attend the show, good luck.

I just came across this re-fix of Kayne's "All Of The Lights" by producer Paperboy. My dude took the original track and mixed it with the Weezy, Sean and Drizzy leak to make one hell of a re-fix. Soul singer Eli "Paperboy" Reed brings his swinging style of Motown music to Balliceaux on Friday, March 11. Check out the video for "Come and Get It" And the song
It's not what we could call a brand new song, litteraly speaking. This one, I just discovered today, and figured out after searching the interweb it was something coming from American retro Soul singer Eli "Paperboy" Reed 's latest album. Released in 2010 through the Capitol/Emi imprint, "Young Girl" is the opening track from the musician's third effort, "Come And Get It" . And it is actually not new at all, as it is a revamped version of a very rare oldschool Soul item recorded by an almost unknow artist of the 60's from the Boston [...]

Charles and B.o.B put a video up yesterday (or real early this morning) showing them making this track. According to the video they have been trying to get together since the photo shoot of the XXL issue shown above . If you watch the video (at bottom of post) they talk about a possible project with both of them, which would be dope if it is anything like this song and the previous release ("Fool For Love") they did together. To begin this edition of Throwback Thursday, we're gonna start it out with one of the most underrated dance floor bangers of all time. The R&B group Next was able to create an entire song based around the concept of drawing wood while dancing with a fine honey on the dance floor, and it's beyond brilliant. Thanks to Next, instead of it being a socially devastating accident, a raging boner on the dance floor has now been accepted by all. Click play and reminisce with this 1997 beauty. Props to Decent for the stellar Throwback suggestion. [...]

I am almost 24. Maybe I am overly self-aware but I find this a weird age to be. I am really young to older people and pretty old to younger people. One of the ways I often am reminded of my age is when I talk about my love for late 80s/early 90s rap music. For some reason not known to me, I can only talk this with people my age or older. Anyone younger seems to have missed what I think was arguably the height of rap and hip/hop. Well, I can't let any [...]

'Ditty' was the catchy one hit wonder for Paperboy . Perhaps it's most addicting quality is the song's liberal looping of a funky sample from Zapp 's 'Doo Wa Ditty (Blow That Thing).' You can stream this nineties classic below. [...]
