And M.I.A .'s huge week begins. In anticipation of her Super Bowl halftime performance this Sunday, she has released her brand new single, "Bad Girls". While "Paper Planes" will always be her biggest song, this track makes a valiant effort of reclaiming some of the glory that she achieved a couple years back. The South Pacific style strings make this another very catchy affair. In this crowded marketplace of "different" pop stars, can M.I.A. still truly stand out? Only time will tell.

Her last single/song was "Stepping Up" that came out with a remix of "XXXO" by Jay-Z, and this new one is on the better side I think, tribal drums, sirens, handclaps, and a sick beat, but the lyrics leave a little to be desired. As Will over at WeAllWantSomeone points out, this song isn't on the tracklisting for M.I.A.'s upcoming album "/\/\/\Y/\" so one can only assume that it's either a response to the whole New York Times/M.I.A./Lynne Hirschberg deal (Hirschberg wrote an article on Maya, Maya didn't like it and tweeted Hirschberg's phone number, Hirschberg responded), or the tracklisting she posted a screenshot of a few weeks back has been changed.
