Another 2012 release which I missed is the debut album from Cork two-piece Parallel. "Paper Walls" is a fine album of original tunes which have depth and variety flirting with genres such as acoustic, blues and radio friendly pop/rock. Altar Eagle 's Nightrunners album from earlier this year excelled at the kind of muffled, slow-motion pop that filtered wistful melodies through pop-synth washes. The No UFOs remix strips things right down to reconfigured Detroit industrial-scapes, with hardly a trace of the original. Nightrunners is available digitally through Digitalis and will be out on cassette on Crash Symbols by the end of the year.

This has been up for a minute, but it's dope and it's fresh out the oven folks.. "Elaquent" has been stirring up some of the dopest digital sound close enough to the era "kraftwerk" around those lines. Black City Lights is the duo of Calum Robb and Julia Catherine Parr—a producer and vocalist team from Wellington, New Zealand. We got this album in our inbox over the weekend and have been streaming it since. Stars & Letters describes their sound as "M83′s Anthony Gonzalez and Zola Jesus had a baby, Drive Soundtrack, Little Dragon, Beach House, Dawn Golden & Rosy Cross," and we couldn't agree more.
