Brand spanking new single from Toronto's own Parallels . Directed by by Middleschool (Norman Wong, Aaron Kopff, and Daniel Grant). Definitely gives you a taste of the recorded Parallels if you've never heard them. But don't sleep on seeing them live, they are spectacular, and Miss Holly's stage dancing is pretty hypnotic.
This beautiful animated video is made by Kilian Eng, one half of DW . He's also an illustrator ( DW Design ) when he's not composing great nu italo tracks. The video is especially made for the remix made by Parallels of The Cansecos ' "Raised By Wolves". The Cansecos - Raised By Wolves (Parallels Remix) And as an extra bonus, this other remix of the same song is also quite nice. The Cansecos - Raised By Wolves (The Cansecos B-Town Remix)

Frank Yang Just before the start of NXNE , I was asked a few questions by The National Post for a festival preview piece along the lines of how NXNE differed from and was similar to SxSW . My answers were basically that there was no comparing the two, acronyms notwithstanding, as nothing anywhere really compares to SxSW in terms of scale and importance, but that in recent years NXNE has come a long way to being a worthy event in its own right. Friday evening, however, I [...]

I've been meaning to do this post for quite some time now, ever since I first stumbled across Parallels on last.fm about a year ago. Ever since, I've been in love. And I'm not the only one, aleks over at discodust has been keeping us updated with news and fresh mp3s when nobody else has. However, today I got an email from Marigold , seems to be a sign to finally bring Parallels to Dödselectro. Canadian Cam Findlay started Parallels as a solo project, when not live drumming for [...]

Mason Hastie If there's one thing I learned from being on the Grand Jury for last year's Polaris Prize , it's that the duties of being a regular jurist are far, far, far, far less stressful. There's a real burden of responsibility when you're one of the 11 whose duty it is to choose Canada's "best album of the year", forcing you to consider each nominee on the short list objectively, checking as much as possible personal biases towards genre, personality, history, whatever. It's a lot of work. And while in [...]

Toronto's Parallels have just released into the world this wonderful IDM mix for Thisisnotanexit. Parallels - Mix for Thisisnotanexit Records Tracklist: 1. Tangerine Dream - Astral Voyager 2. Roni Griffith - Spies 3. Parallels - Midnight Voices 4. Padded Cell - Far Beneath London 5. Gino Soccio - Remember 6. Ladies Choice - American Man 7. And now she's dead. Girlfriend Records heralds from the USA and is a sweet label full of nostalgic Atari aural attacks, a label that lounges on the same beach that spreads across a degraded bitmap sunset landscape where Ghost Car and Valerie collectives are busy building crystalline sand citadels and working ...

Few bands are capable of crafting such authentic vintage sounds as those coming from Toronto based Parallels . I first encountered Parallels (Cameron Findlay and Holly Dodson) when I listened to Anoraak 's NLLR Mix Session 060 (miss you NLLR). When the drum kick marked the start of "Ultralight," I immediately went to download it. In my opinion it's their best song, and it's even pretty dancy (always a plus). In addition, new material has been appearing on blogs over the past few weeks, and it does not disappoint. "Reservoir" is another favorite [...]

Detachments ' "Fear No Fear" was one of my singles of last year , so tomorrow's release of their new single "The Flowers That Fell" is something to be excited about. "Fear No Fear" was a really dark number, with half-sung vocals which sounded like they were calling out from the centre of a black hole. "The Flowers That Fell" on the other hand is really quite "pop", with a melody which has been circling around in my head since I first heard it last month. Trevor Jackson 's sharp production cleverly brings the vocals to the fore, [...]
Y o, for real, it's the weekend and its time to shake your moneymaker (not implying y'all are strippers or whatever). I stumble across a ton of awesome remixes as I surf this information ether-highway of ours. I don't like giving them dedicated posts cause 1) not everyone is super into remixes and 2) I don't want to dilute the attention that should be given to new artists. You feel me? I knew you would. So anyway, I am starting another new feature at TBE where I round up some of the sweetest remixes of late and toss 'em at [...]

PARALLELS- DRY BLOOD (ALT) One of my favourite tracks of April, Parallels always reminds me of evil robots having weird sex. Does that say more about this song, or the way my mind works? ps- this is the drummer from crystal castles, and is as close to any new CC material you're going to get until 2015 unless you like Kap Bambino which... uh... euh.... ughh.

I am apologetic for such a low frequency in postings as of late. Honestly, there has not been much to blog about. It slipped my mind to mention that Parallels opened for Sebastien Tellier last week. Parallels sound like disco dreaming to the sound of Madonna-esque vocals (Holly Dodson) and the drums of Cameron Findlay (ex Crystal Castles drummer). Parallels - Ghost Machines [ SB ]

Munday Post No Sunday Post yesterday due to a family gathering but I am back at it with a Munday Post for you. The first half of the post today is comprised of the more poppy, experimental and indie stuff from the past week and the bottom half is the DJ material. ( Twitter ) ( Facebook ) ( myspace ) ( Hypemachine ) Many interesting things from last week and to begin its some more Permanent Vacation records with Woolfy [...]
Parallels blow my mind. I had listened to their music from their MySpace after meeting Cam. It was solid and I liked it so I ended up going out to one of their shows to shoot and interview not knowing exactly what to expect. Honestly, it was one of the best shows I have seen and Cam is a stellar drummer, he used to hold it down for Crystal Castles before the project. Parallels blows my mind. Simply put it is great catchy danceable sythpop, and friends were instantly amazed by their performance. Look forward to an upcoming interview and [...]

Queue: laser beams, violins, synths, and dubbed out bass lines! Download the entire mix (.ZIP) Tracklist and individual MP3's after the jump: 01- Van She - kelly (breakbot-remix) [...]

PARALLELS Crystal Castles'ın davulcusu Cam Findlay 'in old school disco üzerine vocoder sesler bütünü olarak başladığı solo projesi Parallels , sesi güzel ama şarkıları kötü Holly Dodson 'ın katılımıyla bir gruba dönüşerek bir nevi kişilik kazandı diyebiliriz, her iki taraf için de. Albümleri olsaydı tavsiye edicektim bu Kanada işi musiki cemiyetini. Reservoir

Joan Collins' corpse crawls through our doorway, browned blood caked to her sheer cheekbones and flecked across her powder blue eye-shadow. She tells of torturous journeys of escape, disguised as a white feather caught in the twiggy hair of the ferryman on the river Styx. We were surprised she was ...
