It' safe to say that Mary Anne Hobbs was a very busy lady on XFM over the holiday season. Not only did she play all the best tunes of the year, she also lined up some of the best mixes we heard in 2011. Hopefully you will have already checked out the Scuba mix from last week and lets just say this one might even surpass it. Karenn is the combination of producers Blawan and Pariah from the R&S records stable. Both these [...]
Karenn Mix - Xfm 24/12/11 by Mary Anne Hobbs on Mixcloud. Results here are just super big...
Karenn Mix - Xfm 24/12/11 by Mary Anne Hobbs on Mixcloud UK producers Blawan and Pariah teamed up as Karenn last weekend for a new mix for Mary Anne Hobbs' XFM program. I discussed Blawan's style progression a few weeks back when the track "Shader" surfaced, and with this new mix, we get even more insight in to the hotly tipped producer's influences at the moment. His new duo with Pariah takes the more industrial [...]
Whenever we post a mix which isn't ours, we have normally have given it at least the once over for approval. This time though is an exception. The tracklist looks top notch so we're being optimistic about the mixing and general flow. Enjoy. Natureboy is not a boy. It took me a while to figure that one out. Not because of her looks: she's indeed a bonny lass, but rather because the vocals Sara Kermanshahi are ambiguously delivered: neither masculine nor feminine. And that lends a fantastically malleable c haracteristic to all of her lyrics and choruses; they could be about anyone or [...]

We have loved Natureboy since we stumbled upon their debut album, which percolated across the blogosphere back in 2009. Now, that amazing album gets an official U.S. release today via Bleek Records . Let's all revisit the stellar track "Pariah" and remind ourselves that this overlooked record deserves attention, now. Pariah by Natureboy Natureboy "Pariah" by Bleek Records
In case you hadn't been paying close attention to the UK house scene recently, London-based producer Blawan has been stirring up quite a bit of noise in 2011, earlier on in the year with the retro-tinged hit "Getting Me Down" and more recently with "What You Do With What You Have", which quickly became a highlight among many DJ sets, including James Blake's popular BBC Essential Mix from last month. He also also recently released the Bohla EP on R&S Records, who enlisted him for this exclusive track for their new label compilation titled IOTDXI . [...]

R&S Records - IOTDXI By Greg Salter Over the last few years, we've had a number of compilations from the labels that have brought us the most forward-thinking artists in beat and bass-driven electronic music. Back in October 2009 came 5: Five Years Of Hyperdub , a collection of new and old cuts that felt like something of a victory lap for a label that had emerged from the very beginnings of dubstep and, in the process, brought us Burial, Kode 9 and Joker. More recently have come compilations [...]
R&S have managed to remain at the forefront of electronic music almost constantly since their inception in 1984. Over the decades they've popped in and out of consciousness but the label's recent outings have placed them firmly at the top of the pile with artists such as James Blake , Space Dimension Controller and Blawan all being brought to the forefront by their releases on R&S. The "In Order To Dance" compilations have been snapshots in time for the label and show exactly [...]
Safehouses was an incredible acheivement for a first EP. Debut single on R&S was also astounding - Detroit Falls is possibly one of the best debut singles I've heard by a producer. These days, Pariah has been keeping a bit quiet though, on the solo side of things. But that's fair enough, seeing as he's been buddying up with fellow fresher Blawan both collaboratively, under the moniker Karenn , and through setting up a record label together, Works The Long Nights (listen [...]
The title of this post may seem like nonsense but it's actually the name of an amazing forthcoming compilation album from R&S records. Featuring the likes of James Blake, Pariah, Blawan, Bullion, Airhead and a fair few others, the 22 track release is a mix of new and old, with the first disc celebrating the best tunes from the last 18 months and disc 2 offering 10 completely new tracks, including Pariah's 'Left Unsaid' which you can peep below. This is massive. Add it to your "Must Have" list along with Dougal and the Blue Cat [...]
via tabithabang / Jon Hillcock's New Noise Podcast Pariah : Left Unsaid Little snippets of silence can floor you. Many of the best artists latch on to the fact that there's an art to applying silence; a gift in teasing the listener and giving them something to grasp at. Pariah is one of these. Taken from an R&S Records compilation, ' Left Unsaid [...]

NPIP Nail the Cross : 2011 Mixtape As a blog, as a label and as a festival curator, No Pain In Pop is something I've always been intimidated by. Somehow always managing to sign the right acts, host the right shows - even in its early days as a blog it didn't miss a beat. This weekend sees Halls and Patten (the latter of which we had the pleasure of seeing at this year's Binnacle festival), Echo Lake and Doldrums , amongst others, joining [...]

That hot little two lettered recognizable label that relaunched five years ago is finally getting a chance to try their hand at the compilation game (or for the first time since 19892s "In Order To Dance" at least) with R&S's forthcoming IOTDXI collection. The first half consists of some pristine dancefloor moments from the last two years - kicking off with Model 5002s "OFI" remixed by Bullion, and also including some James Blake, Lone, Blawan, and Vondelpark tracks that you've probably wifed up someone on the dancefloor to. The second CD is [...]

this is Pariah 's Left Unsaid taken from the Disc 2 of the upcoming R&S IOTDXI compilation which is out in a couple of weeks on October 31st

The fine people over at Boiler Room have premiered a track from the forthcoming R&S compilation, IOTDXI . It's called 'Left Unsaid' and it's from the brilliant Pariah . For those wondering if the compilation is as strong as this song, it really is.
