![RUBIK, FUN, THE DRUMS [SUGGESTED NYC CONCERTS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3844059_lg.jpg)
There's a ton of great shows in NYC this week, creating an interesting dilemma for those that need to select just one or two. The Drums , fun. , Young Man , Lucius , ARMS , Kurt Vile & the Violators , and Cloud Nothings are all playing our fine city, but it's still our 2nd B-Day Bash that I'm most excited for. Featuring Rubik , Ambassadors , Yellowbirds , E-603 , and For a Minor Reflection , Manhattan venue Pianos will [...]

Happy Halloween to you and you and you. I'm sitting here dressed as Ash Ketchum from Pokémon hoping that the snow storm we had on Saturday night (seriously?) wasn't the beginning of winter for us here in New York City. It's currently supposed to be chilly but nice, which is, in my opinion, the best weather for venturing out and seeing some live music. From Feist and Battles , to The Drums and Pixies , we have some extraordinary artists visiting our city this week. See below for our suggested shows of [...]

Patrick Cleandenim fell through a time warp. Sometime during the 1940's or 1950's Cleandenim was birthed in a big band jazz club. Shortly after being held in the arms of a kind-hearted trumpet player, Cleandenim crawled into a wrinkle in time all the way to the 00's. With music that incorporates strings, various horns, trumpet, and piano, Cleandenim's album is certainly a throwback to a different era. He is the indie take on the musical, Chicago , and the results are sassy and suave. "Baby Comes Home" and "Hypnotized" sound like the music that plays during a film [...]

Where "best" = albums that were not only significant from a critical standpoint, but that I actually, truly, really listened to. A lot. 10. Jay-Z , American Gangster You're completely, utterly surprised , right? Believe it or not, this spot was the hardest. It was almost Devendra Banhart, Kanye West, Beirut... At first, American Gangster was completely underwhelming. Refusing to give up on Hova, I listened again, then I listened again. By the third or fourth time around, I was re-enamored, and American [...]

Ah, it seems winter is finally about to settle in on Atlanta, I've got Friday afternoon off, and I'll be visiting The Pub tonight for some frosty livations, and again tomorrow morning for the big matches . Then, it's off to find a cheesy xmas sweater for a party Saturday night. So, instead of comments this week, post a pic of your favorite xmas jumper, yeah? Okay, I know nobody leaves comments here, but I thought it'd be funny. Anyhow, enjoy the music, your weekend, and the cold weather (*if you've missed it like I [...]
Patrick Cleandenim e unul dintre cei mai talentati tineri debutanti pe care i-am ascultat in ultima vreme. In primavara acestui an, Cleandenim si-a lansat primul album, Baby's Come Home , o splendoare de pop si jazz specific anilor '50, suprasaturata de voci clasice si aranjamente orchestrale halucinante. Pe cat de vechi sunt influentele care l-au inspirat pe tanarul muzician, pe atat de proaspat este sound-ul lui in comparatie cu pop-ul lalait si promovat de mass-media. Ultra Recomandat! =) Days Without Rain [...]

Patrick Cleandenim could, in some ways, be compared to Beirut . He uses copious amounts of orchestration and writes songs as smooth as can be. He's even on the same record label. But, in my opinion, that's where it ends. Where Beirut looks to foreign music for inspiration, Cleandenim looks back in time to the sounds of bygone times. Big band sounds and orchestral swells fill almost every moment of his album Baby Comes Home (which came out earlier this year), [...]

EAR FARM's Last.fm tells only part of the story, so let's check in with the 10 albums getting the most attention at EF HQ at the moment. There's a song from each album posted below, and a link to purchase each on Amazon/iTunes (if available). -- Rust In Peace by Megadeth - If you haven't already, I bet you're finally starting to realize that my love of metal is pure, real, and entirely devoid of irony. Unless you count hair metal, but let's not go there [...]
Here's a handful of new music to start the work week. Since I've been on kind of an electronic kick lately, I decided to throw in a few, you know, actual instruments. Listen up! What Zach Condon did for Balkan gypsy in the field of indie music, so Patrick Cleandenim (Patrick Clendenin Roberts) will do for minor key swingin' orchestral sixties pop. Indie label Ba Da Bing shows us all they're the real deal by first snagging Condon and now Cleandenim. I've got to admit that the idea of reviving this musical era and style left me cold at first, but after a few more listens over the past couple of weeks I've begun to see the light. This guy is gonna bring back the sing-a-long in cars on the way [...]

Patrick Cleandenim - Hollywood (Ba Da Bing 2007) Patrick Cleandenim – Baby Comes Home / Ba Da Bing When I was in school studying audio production, I was one of those cats who booked overnight sessions in the studio, brought in aspiring rappers or music students and attempted to make a name for myself as a producer before even receiving my diploma. As you can probably tell since I am writing about music and not making my own, I failed. I failed utterly and miserably. [...]
