We threw a small end of summer bbq that went long into the night. Another solid night at GIGANTIC . Its always a bit quieter in the club during the summer (bar the randomly Big Friday, of course) due to people being away on holiday and loads of students spending their break in their hometown. Thats right, because there are simply not enough remakes spewing out of Hollywood, Dirty Dancing is the next film to join the trend. Lionsgate has just announced plans to remake the 1987 film which originally starred Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze . Sargent House has got an ear for fantastic music. I come to praise Patrick Swayze, not bury him. He was our B-level action star with romantic credibility, and we forgave him for Dirty Dancing and Ghost because he gave us Roadhouse and Red Dawn . The martial arts crossover was inevitable-execs don't see any difference between ballet and kung fu and the expressionless acting worked for each Swayzean archetype: the greaser bad boy, the misunderstood rebel with a heart of gold, the mourning husband, the stoic bouncer, and the post-apocalyptic warrior.
