![[Album Review/Listen] – Patrick Wolf – "Lupercalia"](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3535348_lg.jpg)
Tweet The first track on Patrick Wolf 's new album is the best. That's both a good and a bad thing. Bad, because nothing else matches the bubblegum highs of "The City", also the leadoff. Good, because the ebullience of that opener carries the listener through the next ten tracks of "Lupercalia" with a smile and wink. Infectious is an overused word in describing pop music, but here the description fits – very few songs fill you with such gladness that you want to hug [...]
Billboard interviews Patrick Wolf about his new album, Lupercalia . The Independent unravels the mystery behind Ernest Hemingway's suicide. Today's updates to the 2011 Bonnaroo downloads page include mp3s of the Buffalo Springfield performance and a lossless download of Grace Potter's set. The Guardian offers a "tennis in literature" quiz. [...]
Patrick Wolf is one of this country's most talented songwriter's and an accomplished multi-instrumentalist yet, many have never heard of him. From his Lycanthropy beginnings through to Wind In The Wires favourite 'The Libertine', the foot stomping fanfare of The Magic Position to stories of darkness and suicide in the most recent The Bachelor , Wolf has never been a man to rest on his laurels and perhaps more importantly a man full of emotion, his music ultimately being captivated by it. He appears with a new chapter in [...]

With bands disappearing off the musical radar after one or two albums, it's really hard to fathom that despite changing record labels a bunch of times, Patrick Wolf , at only age 27, is about to release his fifth album next Monday. See, the thing about Patrick Apps is, we've watched him grow from the shy yet emotionally open boy in 20032s 'Lycanthropy' to where he is now with the upcoming release of 'Lupercalia': a happily married man in love with his partner and the world. Where 20092s 'The Bachelor' was darker and [...]
It's like that hip, hyped up film you so badly want to dig, namely because it's cool and original, but doesn't really ever capture you the way you want it to

Frank Yang I'll admit that sometimes I get a bit protective of bands. Particularly those who tour from far and distant lands without the benefit of a lot of buzz behind them; I've seen too many bands play too less than double-digits of people and just felt bad for them... and for myself because you're unlikely to get the best show out of a band who thinks they're playing to no one. These were the sorts of concerns I had leading up to the Toronto debut of Allo Darlin' - in all the [...]

As any fan, casual listener, or critic of Patrick Wolf could tell you, the chamber-pop star loves three things: grandiosity, folklore, and wolves. The singer-songwriter's lauded 2003 debut, Lycanthropy , was a clever, timely convergence of hallowed British folk and classical traditions and the sort of electronic overtones that had just begun to infiltrate indie music, and he's spent the past near-decade expanding on those three things. The last we heard from him, 20092s The Bachelor , Wolf's music had grown more accessible than ever (as on its first single, the huge Baroque pop anthem [...]

Frank Yang You don't need to have any sort of imagination to envision a young Patrick Wolf discovering and instantly becoming devoted to the works of Kate Bush ; lines drawn between her groundbreaking art-pop in the 1980s and his version of same in the '00s would be straight and thick. So it's kind of interesting that according to this live clip , before performing a different cover of one of her songs, he says that he was only introduced to her work at age 20, well after his debut album [...]

Idaho has a garage rock scene? Who knew? Straight outta Boise, ID comes some ethereal, crackly, bare bones Lo-Fi that springs into a symphonic finish. The slow, steady thump of this track's barely there drumbeat is epic. According to this blog, their album (worth acquiring, yo) was recorded in a Cold War bomb shelter. Which is [Read Full Post...]

...i want two dogs, two cats,a big kitchen and a welcome mat... Plus, details of his new album...

Before he releases his new album Lupercalia, Patrick Wolf has announced details of a UK tour which will take place in October and November.
Few albums today hold enough valued content to keep the attention of today's listener, let alone an entire album of intelligent and enjoyable music. Coupled with his almost regal voice, Patrick Wolf's Lupercalia is 40 minutes of electronic music mish-mashed right up to horns and strings. Plus, he name checks Dylan Thomas. For geeks like me, that's pretty awesome. It's hard to know where to start with this album - every song has merit. By far my favourite is Bermondsey Street, a joyful track in every sense of the word. It's like he mathematically worked out the [...]

" House " is the third single taken off of Patrick Wolf 's forthcoming fifth studio album , Lupercalia , due June 20th in the UK on Mercury Records . All of the singles as well as the album were written and produced by Wolf, including " House " and it's predecessor " The City ," released back in March. Despite not having too much [...]
