Its pretty much amazing to me just how many artists I love I'm not yet following on Soundcloud. Paul Johnson just dropped this classic on his soundcloud a few days ago.
As you can tell from our previous posts, we are big fans of Paul Johnson, even though it does mean trawling through the masses of tracks he has made to find the proper meat. Big big use of the sampler, and very much a trade mark case of speeding up disco loop and adding some pumping kicks... but the uptempo, heavy funk that comes out of this makes this all ok. As 5 Magazine reported: Word broke this morning that legendary House Music DJ and producer Paul Johnson was injured in an accident. The cycle of soul compilations covering the 1970s and '80s is coming to an end with this mix, some 13 months after I posted the first (which drew a comment from Jerry Plunk, singer of the Flaming Ember).
