Paul Simon's So Beautiful or So What is a masterpiece of verse and music.
"New" remasters offer little to Simon obsessives, but highlight a narrative of disconnection in his '80s work. In keeping with the batch of Paul Simon reissues that began earlier this year with his '70s solo work, these ostensibly new versions of his '80s albums (plus The Rhythm of the Saints from 1990) offer very little for the Simon obsessive. Aside from a new remastering job for Graceland, undoubtedly in preparation for the Graceland 25th anniversary box set planned for next spring, these releases are identical in all but packaging to the remastered,...
![[COVER] The Limousines – "Call Me Al" (Paul Simon cover)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3981690_lg.jpg)
if you be my bodyguard i could be your long lost pal ♫ The Limousines - Call Me Al (Paul Simon Cover) The Limousines were in the pipeline for a post on their jam "Internet Killed The Video Star" (and it's fun video ) a few years back but somehow never made the cut. Leave it to a fun Paul Simon cover to get them back in the mix! Although, any excuse to resurrect this track is a good one. People [...]
Paul Simon: Crazy Love, Vol. II (Live) For Mistress.
As 2011 has come to an end, we are taking a look back at some of our favorite posts of the year by our guest editors. When singer/songwriter Rachael Yamagata was growing up, she went to all-girls school that she says warped her into the relationship-obsessed woman she's become, at least in the lyrics of [...]

1. KANYE WEST & JAY-Z Being able to witness Jay-Z and Kanye West share a stage on their Watch The Throne tour seemed to transcend our understanding of time. Watching the colossal pair in action reminded us of just how impressive their resumes are from the past 10+ years. We daydreamed ten years into the future, boasting to our peers about how we were there in person for the historic Watch The Throne tour. Hip Hop history is truly unfolding in-front of us. This will be looked at as the equivalent of Biggie and Tupac [...]

Paul Simon - "The Boy in the Bubble" Edmund is clean shaven, left-handed and still recovering from a childhood of ADHD and narcotics. Umbrage taken, mixed signals given, Edmund wanders from the wreckage of one life-size crater only to look for ground soft enough to grow another. "And don't come back" doesn't begin to describe, there aren't enough characters in a text message, not enough figures on the number wheel. Edmund's car talks to him, and his shoes have GPS, so if he loses one he can finally be in two places at once. Edmund [...]
Here at Hidden Track, compiling our end of the year list of the 25 best albums has been eerily similar to the process of devising another top 25 list - the college football top 25. When we started four years ago, we attempted to devise a quantitative methodology that systematized the rankings and took the individual biases out of the equation, while still incorporating the collective views of everyone involved at HT. Well, that was sort of our BCS. This year we're going back to the old school and running it AP Top 25 style. In other words, every writer [...]

The holiday season is upon us (also basketball season, finally). But mostly, it's the season of ugly sweaters, drunk uncles, and, if you're a teenager, enough gift cards to paper your walls because nobody knows what to get you. We here at The Wild Honey Pie are better at Christmas shopping than your great Aunt Mildred, though. We put together a holiday playlist full of classics and indie favorites that will keep your earbuds warm when the weather outside starts to get frightful. There's no better soundtrack to accompany the decking of halls, the nogging of eggs, [...]

Shirt of the Year: Brian Posehn's Exodus shirt, right, and the runner-up's "Cheap Ass Slayer shirt." (Click to enlarge) Is there anything worse than these "Best Of" and "Worst Of" lists around this time of year? How about endless re-posts of Christmas music? Ha ha. I know you're just kiddin'. Me too! But, ah, seriously ... there was a lot of good music this year and a handful of really good albums. We won't bore you with what we think is the best - we don't know ourselves - but here are some things [...]
1. Jonathan Richman- Jonathan Sings (Mann) Richman is my all-time man-I-love-this-man-he-speaks- my-language-man. This is the first album by Jonathan Richman that I ever got, and while I love almost every single one of his albums, it's still my favorite. Every single song is awesome. It showcases his song writing style perfectly. Silly, sweet, and honest. "That Summer Feeling" is some of his best writing, I think. There's a cleverness in the rhymes that's so Jonathan. The tenderness of "Someone To Hold Me," the sheer thrill and joy of "Give Paris One More Chance." It's all [...]

You should have seen the deliberation room after we finished the lists. Papers scattered across the floor, blood and coffee stains on the carpet, I think at one point Kenny threw his laptop at Stuart (it just barely missed). But it makes sense, because each one of us are so passionate about the music we loved this year. So, check out what music meant most to each of our wonderful writers- Also, be sure to check out our top songs of the year (100-51 / 50-1 ) and top albums of the year [...]

The best albums are much more than a collection of stand out songs. Like anything successful, a great album finds multiple parts coming together as one; accomplishing moods, textures, and developments not possible by any one singular piece. The best albums force you to take a step back, to not only look at each moment but to examine how that moment fits into a larger picture. Perhaps most important, the best albums are constantly evolving begging for repeated listens to show you all of their ins and out. Check out the 50 albums that kept us coming [...]

As another year of music comes to a close, we'll be analyzing and debating the critics' picks of what tunes summed up 2011 best. But we're also interested in the perspective of the artists who helped shape the sound of the past 12 months. We've picked a special class of pop artists — talents who defined what we heard and saw in 2011 — to participate in our special year-end feature, exclusively sharing with us their picks for the best albums and most exciting performers in music. Kicking off our annual series is Patrick Stump, who selected an [...]

Forgot this was happening tonight. Paul Simon plays the Landmark Theater. Should be a good show.

A 25th anniversary tour to celebrate Paul Simon 's landmark "Graceland" album next year is in the early planning stages. The tour would coincide with a "Graceland" box set that Sony Legacy will release in the late spring, most likely in May. Simon told Billboard.biz he intends to reunite musicians who toured with him in 1987, among them the South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo . In July, Simon returned to South Africa with his band and performed with trumpeter Hugh Masekela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo for [...]
