Tweet In 2001 The Strokes changed the rock game up with their debut album "Is This It" which to this day remains one of my favorite albums of all time and was placed on the great majority of "decade's best" lists that were released a couple years ago. It's been almost eleven years since that, though, and rock has evolved and come and gone, and it's becoming increasingly common to see bands get on stage with at least one synth. It's refreshing, then, even as much [...]

The former Pavement singer/guitarist returned to Austin at the newly renovated Mohawk, but he was here to promote Mirror Traffic -no hopes of Pavement songs! Local boys TV Torso opened up the gig, and Nurses were the middling act on a pretty laid back evening over at the Mohawk. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances with missing tread on one of Brian's car's tires, we were not able to make it in time to see our good friends [...]

A few months after the release of their now genius landmark record Slanted And Enchanted in 1992 Pavement played in Philly at the Khyber Pass on July 30th. Freedom Has No Bounds recently posted this show that you can download here .

There is always that forever-old adage about not judging a book by its’ cover. However, if one was to judge English band This Many Boyfriends strictly from the contents of their Facebook page it would almost be impossible not to like them. Anyone whose influences includes both of the albums Psychocandy ( The Jesus and Mary Chain ) and Born to Run ( The Boss ) deserves a listen if not just for that description alone. Lucikly, the band itself does justice to its description. Sort of like a hybrid of The Strokes and Pavement [...]
Tony, Sid, Cassie, Michelle, Jal, Chris, Anwar, and Maxxie are all back in Series 2 of E42s hit teen drama Skins . With all of their stories concluding as they prepare to head off to college and the real world, it's sure to make you laugh, cry, smile, and sigh. You'll share their ride on the roller coaster of emotions caused by the tragedies, triumphs, and - of course - drugs and drama that fill Series 2. And holy $#!+. If the plot line alone isn't enough to hook you, then the music is. If it was [...]

Date Wednesday, Feb 22nd Location Mohawk Doors 630 pm Tickets $17 from Frontgate It's not like Stephen Malkmus really needs much of an introduction, or really needs to hand out incentives to come see his show at Mohawk on Wednesday. He's the main man from Pavement , who has carefully crafted a nice solo [...]
People always joke about the member of the band who plays the tambourine, but think about it: Where would live music be without the back-up dancer, the ludicrously outfitted hand-clapper, the guy whose sole job is to amp up the crowd by shouting, "Hoookayyyy!" over and over? Not only can they be critical members of rock bands and rap crews, but it's also a role that can lead to a solo career - both Jay-Z and Tupac started out as hype men. Below, we've collected the best representatives of the most underrated role in music. [...]

We Can’t Enjoy Ourselves don’t produce the typical New York jangle pop – their brand is saucy & reckless, like a combination of The Smiths and Pavement (whose song ‘We Dance’ perhaps their name references). Their bio states: “ There once was a band in New York called We Can't Enjoy Ourselves . They were young, energetic, and happy; one day they abandoned their matronly motown shuffle for the sake of a younger genre; they loved, but they were not loved. Their lives ended in disaster. ” The 7-song EP One [...]

Words by Jim My inbox gets annihilated by emails on a daily basis. I almost feel bad for it. PR people from around the globe send us the most random stuff. Seriously, I'm not saying that we are super important and we have PR agents banging our door down, because that's definitely not the case. It's just the power of Google and Twitter search, I guess. If we feature a band from the UK, you can bet that two days later we'll have emails about the newest dub step grunge trip hop artist from [...]
1. Snowmine - "The Hill" Typically by the time there's snow settling outside I'm listening religiously to somber acoustic songs. This year that has not been the case.Brooklyn natives Snowmine and their sweet little track "The Hill" exemplifies the more upbeat music I'm digging into lately. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 So winter break is coming to a close, and college students everywhere (myself included) are packing their bags and sighing heavily. I’ve been at my parents' house this break, spending a lot of time listening to old mix CDs I have stashed here. There are some particularly excellent ones that someone made for me a few years back, and Pavement is a pretty heavily featured band. I had sort of forgotten about Pavement in the last couple years, and now I realize how wrong that is. I feel ashamed even [...]

![[Introducing] – Slothbear](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3935936_lg.jpg)
Tweet It doesn't take long to pick up on the crisp autumnal backdrop that was taking place while Slothbear was recording its latest EP "Canter On" . Recorded during one weekend in the fall of this year and released 1st November, Slothbear’ s haunting effort explores the echoing walls of guitarist Josh Ginsberg’s newly vacated childhood home. The concept behind it was a final send-off for the home that held a lifetime’s worth of memories within its walls. [...]
