The Entrance Band lived up to the "you need to show up early to see them" hype this past Saturday night when the band - featuring Paz Lenchantin (ex-A Perfect Circle, Zwan) on bass - opened for Nebula at the Ravari Room. Word on the street was that The Entrance Band wasn't to be missed and, truth be told, I was interested just to see the new band Paz Lenchantin (ex- A Perfect Circle , Zwan ) was playing in. The crowd at the Ravari Room wasn't as big as I expected it to be (what? the preview I wrote didn't bring out the masses?) but those who ventured out "early" (The Entrance Band went on around 10:45pm) were treated to a performance that will not be forgotten. The Entrance Band doesn't exactly wow with [...]
2009 Ecstatic Peace/Universal HappyParts learned about The Entrance Band three years ago when searching for Paz Lenchantin's current state of artistic endeavors. Modern google technology lead me to The Entrance Band. HappyParts was smitten at first listen. Entrance digital longtail lead me to Golden Animals (both having roots from Baltimore) Entrance have packed the van, and left their Laurel Canyon hideout to bring their West Coast power-trio groove on the road. (They just returned from a Sonic Youth support trip) Roadwork for Guy Blakeslee, Paz Lechantin, and Derek James is nothing new [...]

If your around Santa Cruz this weekend - Entrance band kicks of Summer Tour - from the depths of the dates and cities - this band is ready to work. Ecstatic Peace!/Universal Records will release of the self-titled debut album by The Entrance Band on September 1, 2009. - HappyParts heard a few of the mastered tracks (M.L.K rips and there's a primitive West Coast - surf stomp groove to kick [...]
Granted the audio kind of blows- you can feel the low end -as if you were there. HappyParts is shocked that this band is still a West Coast treasure yet to be spiked by the indie blogsphere- I don't think there is a better live band out there - besides Golden Animals or Verve. Nice one Guy. This fuckin' rules. Imagine this gig: Verve, Entrance, Golden Animals - in no particular order. Now that would be a gig. HappyParts proposes a rhythm section cage match - between Paz n' Derek [...]
You may not instantly know the name, but you will undoubtedly have heard at least one of the records Paz Lenchantin (pronounced "paws lay-shawn-tain") has contributed to. She is probably most famous for being the bass player in both A Perfect Circle and Zwan, but her list of credits includes playing on the Queens Of The Stone Age album 'Songs For The Deaf', contributing fiddle to 'Tanglewood Numbers' by Silver Jews, playing bass on Brightblack Morning Light's eponymous 2006 album, as well as touring with Papa M and RTX. You can even buy a signature bass guitar named [...]
A CANDID INTERVIEW WITH A PERFECT CIRCLE'S MATT MCJUNKINS ON HOW HE GOT THE GIG AND TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN GET ONE TOO!
Well hello again! I hope you've been enjoying everything I've been posting here today on Metalsucks.net. This next interview is really something I was beyond thrilled to be able to do! A Perfect Circle is without a doubt one of my all-time favorite bands and are also a huge inspiration on myself as well as [...]

A PERFECT CIRCLE OFFICIALLY BACK IN BUSINESS
Listen, I don't think this is gonna come as a galloping shock to anyone given all the talk there's already been about A Perfect Circle returning from their hiatus/break-up/whatever, but we just got a press release making it official. The band is apparently gonna get this party started with a five-city tour in the fall: [...]
AMAZING BABY + THE ENTRANCE BAND + NIGHT HORSE @ TROUBADOUR
Have you ever stood five feet away from a napalm explosion during the height of the Vietnam War? That's pretty much what standing in the front row at an Entrance show is like. As the band took the purple-lit stage, bassist Paz Lenchantin gave drummer Derek James a high five and they both smiled, as if in on a secret. I figure that's pretty much what I'd do before every show if I was about to play these songs live.
THE ENTRANCE BAND: THE ENTRANCE BAND
Fans of Prayer of Death should understand that The Entrance Band sounds quite different, occasionally flirting so closely with alt-rock sonic textures that the band's voice becomes a little less distinctive. Blakeslee is making a conscious effort to explore new directions with this band, whether fans of Prayer of Death agree with it or not, and who can blame him? The Entrance Band will definitely give second thoughts to those fans who painted Blakeslee as a morbid death rocker. But there are times when it's hard not to miss a little of [...]
FARMER DAVE SCHER: REVIVE THE NUTS
Farmer Dave Scher is almost the Chris Darrow of his day, thanks to collaborations with Elvis Costello, Jenny Lewis, Nobody and the Mystic Chords of Memory, dios , Miranda Lee Richards and more. He is currently basking in the happy after-effects of his new solo album Flash Forward To The Good Times . This interview by Thomas McMahon.
THE ENTRANCE BAND: LIFE CHANGED FOREVER
The Entrance Band came together around guitarist Guy Blakeslee and spent two years writing their new album on stages across California. They have just signed to Ecstatic Peace and hope to go to towns no band ever visits. They speak now just before leaving for many months of tour. This interview by Chris Ziegler.

Nebula @ The Ravari Room (8.14.09)
MP3: The Dagger The 38-year-old me wants to hop into the time machine and land back in '87 where the 16-year-old me is taking his first sip of Natty Light from an aluminum can in the back seat of Rob's '75 Lincoln Continental. I want to slip a dubbed copy of Nebula's latest release, Heavy Psych , into the tape player and watch how the spacey/stoner funk grooves completely blow our fucking minds and make us do even stupider shit than we would [...]

Songs for Luci
Paz Lenchantin - Kentucky Hymn. I fully support the current increase in popularity of small-batch, handmade vinyl-only labels. I love the attention to detail, the designs, the card stock. It's a great thing to order and get in the mail, knowing as much time and effort went into the packaging as did the recording inside. One such label is Black Tent Press here in Los Angeles. They have a small catalog so far but continue to grow, and when their two first releases are from Paz Lenchantin and David Pajo, you know that off to a good start. The...

New Jenny Lewis Album, Tour
Jenny Lewis will release her second solo album this September, titled Acid Tongue. The record will feature guest appearances buy such artists as Elvis Costello, M Ward, Paz Lenchantin, Chris Robinson and Zooey Deschanel (editor's note: "yummmmm), just to name a few. Jenny will also be touring in support of the record and hitting NYC on [...]
Paz Lenchantin, August, 2007
As a member of both Zwan and A Perfect Circle, and with credits on albums such as Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf and VietNam's eponymous 2007 release, Paz Lenchantin has one of the most diverse resumes in rock. Currently, the talented Argentinian-born multi-instrumentalist has been working on solo projects as well as backing Guy Blakeslee in her new band, Entrance. At this year's SxSW festival in Austin, Texas, Synthesis met up with Paz Lenchantin on the beautiful grounds of the French Legation Museum, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, where she was taking [...]
