Tweet Oh, man, Mondays. Who likes Mondays? No need to reply, since the answer is obviously "nobody". Still, they're not beyond help. One thing that can definitely improve the start-of-the-week experience is taking a bit of time out to listen to some good music. Say, some acoustic, slow-paced, introspective folk. Like, say, that produced by Saturday Sun . I'm reliably informed by common sense that, despite their name, they can also be legitimately played on a Monday. Saturday Sun [...]
The music label of psychedelic breakbeat and technological funksters, Broken Robot Records like up and coming talent, and next week we see a debut double AA single EP from their new signing Bad Tango who seems to be able to deliver exactly the kind of psybreaks head-honcho Neurodriver appreciates. This is part of his Frontier Science series. Kicking off this musical influx of frenetic, synthetic tweaks and bleeps 'Arecibo Spank' begins with solid [...]

When you're hunting around the edges for very new music you come across a lot of utter crap. That's the price we pay for setting ourselves up as your filtering service. Please don't think that we come across bands this awesome every time we look, we don't, it takes an eye-wateringly long time to wade through the myriad of bullshit pretenders before we stumble upon diamonds cut this way. And this is truly one of those diamond finds. You're going to love them. Your friends are going to love them. NME is going to slap them all over their radar [...]

Our friends IO have emerged from their studio hibernation with some new material this week, following on from their impressive debut back in June . continue reading >>

(Princeton Architectural Press, 2011) I've been drooling over this book for awhile, finally ponied up and purchased it, and it's better than I thought it would be. Peake's meticulous inking and painting of what he terms "the middle of nowhere" in Ireland is pure gorgeousness. I'm even a bit reluctant to gather up these images I've pulled from around the web. They do not compare to seeing them on the page. Peak composes each page perfectly and with stunning detail. One of my very favourite working artists.
After the great Anthem "Feel For You" he released earlier this year here's more of his soulful sound presented as a Special Summer EP by our Maestro of Deep beats Tigerskin. Enjoy these six great tracks that vary from Disco to Deep House...
Pollen Trio marks a rewarding point of collision or, er, cross-pollination between two Australian lineages that LMYE (this half, anyway...) is deeply invested in - the extraordinary post-jazz trio tradition of The Necks , Triosk & 3ofmillions meeting the broader experimental church of Shoeb Ahmad 's hellosQuare (our neglected label of 2010 ) & Ahmad/ Evan Dorrian ( PT)'s Spartak . [...]
Direct Link to Video Seattle based band, Death Cab for Cutie, made a pilgrimage back to their roots in their formative years as a band growing up in Bellingham, WA, where the band formed over 10 years prior, to perform two sold out concerts at the historic Mt. Baker Theatre. The film features previously unreleased performances from these two very special nights as well as interviews with band members about the beginnings of the band forming in Bellingham. Watch some of the interviews above as the band takes a trip down memory lane. This musical release [...]
It's been awhile since I last heard from The Belle Game. Since some of the members are in Montreal and the other members are in Vancouver. They haven't been touring recently except for a stop in Toronto during NXNE. Sadly I happened to miss them but would have wanted to see them. Anyways the band finally released a new song which is featured on The Peak Performance Project ( 100.5FM ). The radio station have been putting it on for the past 2 years. Their goal [...]

This is a great event happening in The Mercantile this coming Saturday. All 5 bands are excellent and there's lots of prizes to be won. Having been in The Mercantile last week I can only imagine the gig on Saturday will be jammers and a great night will be had by all. The band I'm most looking to seeing is Cork's 'Time is a Thief'. Here's a song from their first release called Crazy Moon. [...]
Time to take a trip back to the mid-nineties in Cincinnati. A time when Sudsy Malone's was the best venue in the city, The Afghan Whigs were at their peak and MTV was still relevant to music fans. Someone uploaded this great VHS rip of a segment MTV did on our fair city, and I think it's certainly worth sharing this morning. Enjoy! Subscribe to the comments for this post? [...]
