Annie Clark aka St. Vincent is known to do covers during her live shows from time to time. Our friend Matt Picasso over at You Aint No Picasso has an archive of some tracks she has covered over the years that is worth checking out. Even though the buzz is that Pearl Jam will release a new album this year, frontman Eddie Vedder still plans on celebrating his debut solo album, 20112s Ukelele Songs , with another solo tour this coming Spring. Vedder's tour kicks off on April 11th in Las Vegas and will feature thirteen shows including a stop at the New Orleans Jazz Heritage festival on May 3rd. This Spring, the Pearl Jam frontman returns to the road for another solo jaunt, supporting last year's ukulele-laden LP. As Billboard reports , the 13-date tour surrounds his appearance at this year's New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival , where he'll perform during the festival's second weekend on May 3rd. While Friday night's Williamsburg incarnation of the Portlandia Tour featured the likes of Adam Horovitz and Hugh Cornwell (of the Stranglers), St. Vincent's Annie Clark showed up at Saturday's stop at the Bowery Ballroom, where she performed Pearl Jam's " Black ." When Carrie and Fred said that every night's show would be different, so they ain't lyin' bout that ( BV Chicago reports that that city's show featured Sam and Spencer Tweedy as well as Rookie editor/wunderkind Tavi Gevinson and the Mekons' Sally Timms). Coming off her performance on Conan and the announcement of a 2012 tour , St. Vincent hit the Bowery Ballroom for the Portlandia Tour and took on Pearl Jam's "Black." Just Annie and her guitar. Good stuff. Watch it below. Highlight: At 3:15, during the "doo-doo-doo-doo-doo doo doooo" part, Annie addresses the audience: "Don't fucking make me sing this all alone!" ( BPM )

Photo by Philip Cosores We can't tell you the exact context for this performance, but, it isn't that hard to trace Portlandia's recent appearance from Eddie Vedder to this surprisingly sincere cover of Pearl Jam's "Black," only breaking character to urge her audience to "keep fucking singing!" Check out the clip below and we'll update it if some better video comes in. The audio on this is pretty solid, though.
