Damien DeRose has garnered a number of Elliott Smith comparisons for this homespun folk-pop project, Peasant , and while they seem apt with regard to the recording approach (double-tracked vox/guitars, light harmonies, et al.), these bittersweet tunes feel a lot more steeped in hope.
