If you are a big fan of everything Pedro the Lion like I am you probably are well aware of the new EP from David Bazan "Fewer Moving Parts". So that is obviously what David has been up to since Pedro the Lion parted ways, but what about the other half of the PTL, drummer and sometimes vocalists TW Walsh? Well, it turns out Mr. Walsh is fronting an excellent little band called The Soft Drugs . The Soft Drugs released an EP titled "In Moderation" earlier this summer and its really a instantly [...]

Duplomacy have released a beautiful album of sweet, intimate songs, arranged with lots of hard, buzzing edges and sonic detail. A very close, organic record. Give these two a spin: Duplomacy - Stars Duplomacy - Coppertone buy it Duplomacy's first foray into professional recording was an EP recorded by TW Walsh, one-time partner of David Bazan in Pedro The Lion, another group who always had a great grasp of the intimate, although [...]
I think I hinted that I was going to do this post earlier, but here it is. Finally. Pedro the Lion â€" Foregone Conclusions “And you were too busy steering the conversation toward the Lord to hear the voice of the Spirit, begging you to shut the fuck up. You thought, it must be the devil, tryin to make you go astray. And besides, it could not have been the Lord because you don't believe he [...]

Hello everyone it's Patricia ... I thought I'd give Chris the day off and make a post of my own. This will be post #2 for me on Neileslife so cut me some slack if it sucks. This will probably be a long post, but I have a few days to cover. This weekend was very fun... Friday night Chris , BJ , Mike & I went to Ribfest! mmm we got the Boss Hog ribs from Athens, Georgia and it was awesome. We went [...]
Here are a couple of versions of wonderful hymns that you may not have heard. There is nobody that the blogosphere loves more than Sufjan Stevens and this is from his unreleased but not that hard to find Christmas record (although it's not thought of as a Christmas song). But I have to hand it to Sufjan because this is just the 2nd Christmas record I have, the first being John Denver and the Muppets. Actually I also have the cassette soundtrack to "The Muppet Christmas Carol". So I guess Sufjan made the first non-muppet [...]
I started crying today in Subway. Why? Onions. The teenage girl making my sandwich could do nothing but laugh as I carried my dinner away teary-eyed. What can I say, those were some strong onions. The Shins - "Know Your Onion" On the heels of the the President's veto on advancing stem cell research ... Part of what's hindering stem-cell research is several broad patents held by the University of Wisconsin, writes the Wall Street Journal... [...]

David Bazan, creative genius behind the totally great Pedro the Lion, released an EP of solo work back in June called Fewer Moving Parts . It's comprised of 10 tracks. Well actually, it's 5 tracks, each recorded twice, once acoustically, and once with full instrumentation. It is highly recommended. Bazan will play a handful of live dates over the next several weeks, before beginning work on a full-length album that will be out on Jade Tree next year. Here's a couple of songs for your listening pleasure. The first track is "How I Remember" from [...]

Seattles Suicide Squeeze is celebrating thier 10th birthday this year and is doing it with a really great compiliation. Among the tunes from Modest Mouse, Elliott Smith and Pedro the Lion are some unreleased stuff and some out of print tunes. Here is part of the press release... Since the very first record sporting the Squeeze logo, the label has been aiming all arrows at top caliber records, great music made with great care and a punk rock soul. Untarnished by the haze of ripped jeans and flannel [...]
