Y'know, it's funny. I've been running this site for over 4 years now, and hearing more and more Baltimore rap every year that I do it, and yet every year I feel less and less qualified to let my opinion be the end-all-be-all that some people treat it as. There's simply too much music, too much variety coming out of this scene for any one person to really fairly judge, but if I'm gonna be the only person that attempts to hear all or most of it, I might as well throw in my two cents, even as I encourage [...]

Some quick news items: - Amotion and Deep Flow Studios landed on the cover of B with a feature by Timothy Cooper earlier this week. - Say Wut is featured in the current issue of XLR8R with an article by Michael Byrne. - Here's a YouTube video of Swizz Beatz co-signing Mullyman. - NOE is featured on a new song from the Jim Jones record called "Swagga From Us" with Lil Wayne and Twista. NOE is talented and he did his [...]
I was walking down the street, (concentrating on truckin' right), when I put my hand in my pocket and discovered my brother's iPod. My thoughts flashed back to the night before. Broken snapshots of a faded dream bubbled to the surface though the haze of a hangover. We'd been drinking. Abandoning attempts at reasoning how I had come to be in possession of the anodized audiophony, I decided to take advantage of the situation, gave his headphones a cursory wipe upon my sleeve, shoved them in my ears and fired up the machine. [...]

PenDragon - "Internet Going Nuts" (mp3) I've posted new music from PenDragon a few times now since his last mixtape , and I'm not really trying to overexpose certain artists since I figure regular readers only need to hear someone's music every now and again to figure out if they really like them and wanna hear more. But Drag keeps hitting me with music and he went and did an internet in-joke song (with the obvious Paul Wall sample) and shouted me and my sites out a few times in the first verse, [...]

Big Moon - Hear Me Clearly (HeadNod Entertainment/Worldwide Recordings) Big Moon is an MC that I first heard a couple years ago on a mixtape by Real2Real , and the members of that group make several appearances on this mixtape. I don't know if it's partly because his name reminds me of Black Moon, but this mixtape gives me kind of that grimy mid-90s NYC vibe, even when the beats are more modern he kind of has this no-nonsense persona that you don't hear a lot of rappers with anymore. [...]

Got a bunch of random links and music I've been meaning to post for a minute: - Blaq Starr has a new single called "Bang Hard" that you can hear all over the place, including YouTube , it's one of his slower hip hop type tracks. - Greenspan was recently featured in the Sun's free daily, B . - In a post on my other blog, Narrowcast , about the St. Louis production team the TrackBoyz I posted an old song they did with Comp that was on one of his [...]

PenDragon - "DC GoGo Slam" (mp3) Bree f/ PenDragon - "Outta Control (Remix)" (mp3) More new shit from PenDragon , cause I feel like he's on a roll right now and has some great ideas. After he sent me Wale's "Bmore Club Slam" record he decided to do his own flip on the concept, with a Baltimore MC shouting out D.C. and their indigenous sound, grabbing some Chuck Brown samples for the Go-Go feel. He also decided to spit a verse on [...]

PenDragon - "Standing On The Corner" (mp3) Drag sent me this track a couple weeks ago, something new produced by Mark Shotta that wasn't on I Got Hits 4 Cheap (which is still a dope mixtape, btw, go download the whole thing if you haven't already). His MySpace has some other good new shit, too, including one of my favorite remixes of "A Milli" to date, because he actually produced it and added elements to the beat, and "Deconstruction," which touches on the end of [...]
