Kohwi is Cory Levinson - a sonic arts and math academic by day and an electro-acoustic musician by night, self-described as psychedelic-sleep music. A graduate of Universtity of Michigan, Cory is now studying at Queen's University Belfast and will play his first gig in Ireland alongside Sacred Animals and Low Sea at The Workman's Club in Dublin on March 4th. The year's eleven percent young, but already, Pepepiano 's "Millennium Wet Dream" is an early contender for song of the year. I imagine the song's soothing synth textures and seraphic squeaks as being performed by a swarm of amphibious creatures celebrating the defeat of an invasive species or the arrival of a season of hope. The swelling ambiance of "Millennium Wet Dream" is a bit unrepresentative of an album otherwise comprised of A.D.D.-informed, avant-garde electronics, but the rest of the songs are equally as excellent. Sometimes I forget how left field certain artists really are. I suggest them to a few friends, they check them out and tell me that they are "uhh definitely different." Sadly, I think Pepepiano may be one of these artists. I want to suggest this album to anyone who's ever told me how much they enjoyed Merriwether Post Pavillion, but I'm sure more than a few of them would be confused. Throw hip-hop, glitch and sometimes Passion Pit, sometimes Atlas Sound vocals into the mix and you might understand why Pepepiano can seem so unwieldy. [...]

PEPEPIANO recently drops his debut self titled album, PEPEPIANO . His bedroom pop vibe is what really makes his sound so stimulating and likable. The album reminds of something along the lines of Dan Deacon and Animal Collective, really layered and loud chaotic sounds yet holding a consistent audible melody throughout.
